Doom,half-life,quake, unreal, marathon (which is a pass being how bungie made it). I could even say halo reach copied off CoD with the addition of abilities and h4 progressing it even further. The fps genre borrows HEAVILY off each other, of people were going to sue it wouldve beeen done a long time ago. The idea is to do an aspect better than the other even, If it’s copying.

343 is employed by Microsoft and whoever made infinite warfare is also working with Microsoft…do u really think 343 cares if cod took things from halo?..if nintendo or Sony was the culprit I’d probably agree
It’s posts like this that make me really wish we could use the "R"word on these forums.
343 has no legal grounds to sue for anything. Games borrow ideas and similar designs from each other all the time and it’s been happening for decades.
You know… Frankie literally said “There are things from Call of Duty that we can do better” about Halo 4 before it came out. If “stealing” things from other games was really that big of a deal, something would have happened long ago.
As long as whatever is in Call of Duty isn’t a literal rip from a Halo game, meaning that they didn’t steal the assets, or made to look exactly like something from Halo to the point where it’s indistinguishable, there really is no legal issue.
The only way a game company will sue another is if they take the exact thing from it. If CoD had the Master Chief in it, then yeah. But if they have Master Chef in armor no.

People are trying to show me things that Halo has took from movies. Councillor armor from some movie called Alien. Neither look similar. The Forerunner thing from Halo 3 yeah. The UNSC Frigate, no. At least Bungie, can make it similar or hide what they did. CoD didn’t hide anything. They flat out put it there saying, ‘hello we are CoD and we copied your game’.
While there were a lot of things that Infinite Warfare did that was similar to Halo, there was plenty that was different as well. If you really look at the military sci-fi genre you can see many instances where there are tons of similarities. Previous posts about much of Halo being influenced by the popular sci-fi films of ‘Aliens’ is noticeable.
Sure, I concede that the Raven was very similar to the Pelican, but Infinite Warfare was truly competing with Titanfall 2 this year. I played their campaigns back to back and the similarities were striking. Both employed mechanized automaton warriors and battles against two human factions and there were no aliens (Titanfall 2 did have alien animals, but they were not sentient) in either game.
I don’t think they have any grounds to sue. It just means that 343i needs to step up their game and make the next Halo installment stand apart from not only it’s predecessors, but it’s competition. There is nothing wrong with that.
This world is sue happy. Some lawsuits are justified, but this seems like a frivolous one. IW has its similarities, but halo has gotten ideas from other games too.

You do realize that almost nothing about Halo is ‘original’ right? The space marine thing was taken from aliens, which in turn owes a great deal to Robert Heinlein. The mechanics were mostly taken from previous FPS games which go back through Doom to Wolfenstein 3-D. In turn that first person view was used in several dungeon crawler games going back to the 80’s. The flood owes some semblance to the various parasitic aliens that have dominated science fiction since the Fifties. The soldier in a supersuit things wasn’t new. The colonial revolt elements were borrowed from a variety of other franchises. You would be hard pressed to find anything in any franchise that was derived from something else these days.

Besides, such a lawsuit would probably be about as successful as one with Coca Cola suing Pepsi for making cola.
