By alerts I mean notifications on replies to your posts. Major websites such as Reddit, 9gag, and even Bungie.net have already done this and for the better. I forgot what I post the next day so I don’t usually see someone’s reply to my posts.
Have always wondered this too. Have an option to turn them on/off for each thread you post in or something like this.
These forums are really kind of bad. This feature would be nice as well as being able to easily track all your posts.
There use to be an email notification but its been a lonnnnng while since that worked. A notification panel would be pretty cool.
I think the only notifications that work are the Buddy ones and when you get a message.
Anything else you just need to remember things. Just like the old days of the internet.
Hope so. Having to go back to each topic I post in to check for replies gets tiresome.
I’d like to see an activity/notification page, perhaps they could upgrade the last 10 posts page and allow the last 25 posts with activity sorting.
I think it would be a nice feature to have but with a time limit on it so that older posts don’t get bumped back up.
I still remember when the load times were terrible and the errors that always came up. It might not be perfect but it has improved and we might see some changes with the MCC being released that will hopefully add more features to make it even better.
I think we do actually have a notification feature…it just doesn’t work. Hasn’t done for a while I might add.
I’m sure I have it switched on but I’ve never had 1 notification. It would be nice to have a little Facebook like button at the top of the page next to all the little icons. Just one that’s a letter or something that glows blue or red whenever you have new notifications.
Too much work for the web team.
Wanted something like this for a LONG time, but the forum software that Waypoint uses (YetAnotherForum) doesn’t support it.
It’d be a lot easier to switch to something like IP.Board which has support for something like that.

How do you know that?

Know that it doesn’t support it?
It isn’t built in, it would have to be completely coded from scratch. It would be a lot better to simply switch over to a forum software which was has it actually built in with guarantees that it works.
YetAnotherForum is a pretty awful forum software, I mean just look at how long it takes to Search posts, how long it takes to load the Members page (when that actually still worked) and the fact they force “yaf_” into the URL.
Hopefully the next time Waypoint gets a facelift, the web team switches to something like IP.Board.
I get why they run with YAF forum though, as it’s .NET and probably helps to tie in with some of their Azure stuff. Switching to IPB would be great for us users, it has decent CMS features and good customisation, but it would probably take a lot of work to get PHP taking correctly with all the services they need it to. Makes me miss working with .NET, haven’t played with it since Uni
It will not be added until they create a new site on a new software(forum engine, i mean not YetAnotherForum). Because Little Moa said, you need to code it from scrath and add it to this broken YetAnotherForum software.
Anyway, i would like to have it too.
I don’t think I’ve ever had an alert from Waypoint.
