Anyone who has played competitive halo in MCC or halo 3 knows how much nerds like to ddos for free wins by booting people offline on the other team.
If 343 cannot prevent this, then having a ranking system will be the dumbest thing ever… it will be a cheat fest where people that play honestly like myself will be getting hit offline and having their family members equally pissed because some nerd 500 miles away with no skills can just press 3 button in his computer and boot whomever he wishes offline.
TL;DR: Nerds who cheat via DDOS/host booting have no lives and small pee pees. 343 better prevent this.
Hmm I didn’t know this was happening. I lagged out of a game yesterday for no reason. I have never had this problem before. We were winning 25 to 12 and I had 13 kills. Then boom main menu. Hmm.
If this is true, this might explain why i lag out of games when i have a perfect connection so much…

Umm… hate to break your bubble… ddos/host booting is rampant in MCC on the xbox one.
IT IS JUST AS EASY TO DDOS/HOSTBOOT ON THE XBOX ONE AS IT IS THE 360.
I have a friend that used to cheat on the 360 via host booting. He doesn’t cheat anymore, but he tried it once to see on the xbox one and he said it works the same.
People that haven’t experience mcc cheating either play social or aren’t good enough to play decently high level people and get ahead enough to make them quit.
I hate to tell all of you guys but there are no longer hosts in H5. Its all on dedicated servers.
Ddos doesn’t really work with dedicated servers.

This
Ddos, host booting and lag switching only work on p2p servers, Halo 5 is reported to have dedi servers with selectable data centers -IF- this is true then none of these things will work
DDOS isn’t rare. It could be performed just like on the X360 with a packet sniffer and flood the IP. I’m not sure what security measures 343 could implement to fix this though.

It’s simple. They put all the game through a dedicated server. There are no hosts to DDoS anymore. DDoSing an entire server will take a lot more zombie computers to crash than your average joe XBL DDoSer has at their disposal. Not to mention causing the server to hiccup would make everyone lag, including the person doing it.
nomatter what people are going to ddos so you can only prevent it by buying a VPN or Virtual Private Network
Its not up to 343 to do anything about it, that is a MS problem. You cant program your software to not allow those types of things, it has to be hardware based. Which is why dedicated servers are so nice, MS is making a big push with azure and H5 reaps the bennies
There’s no need ddos the dedicated servers but Xbox live or even the Cloud with those out of commission we would have to wait a while. I mean it could happen or Xbox live would just mess up for another it has before and has done recently this month.

Plus if they did use the ddos on xbl servers, they couldn’t really boost their rank, as the sever wouldn’t be accessible anymore. I’m sure everyone has seen xbl or psn on Christmas…yeesh…

Oh my god… this OP is always complaing about ddos on MCC even though theres no evidence of it… Halo 5 isnt even out yet but here he is already expecting ddos cheaters…
Haha this guy need to sort out his internet connection, because ive played alot of MCC and seen no evidence of ddos cheating, He has a bad connection and instantly posts drivel on here how hes so good he attracts ddos cheaters in his games.
a week before game comes out and hes already talking about it, dude you need to chillout and just deal with bad connections sometimes, instead of telling people theres ddos happening.
i do find it funny you have MLG in your gtag, but everytime you post stuff on forums its about ddos attacks, not about how good you are and your enjoying the game. and your quite defensive when people disagree that theres ddos cheats, almost makes me think you know its 100% true because you also do it yourself lol
its creepy how obsessed Sasquash is with feeling like hes being cheated on a regular basis…

Haha 7/10 troll bait.
First of all, I know you are horrible at halo or just don’t play ranked (which means you probably aren’t that skilled) because anyone that has played lot of ranked in Halo MCC knows that there is ddos happening. Cheaters have hit me and my friend internet offline… this has nothing to do with our internet connections. mine is 70 MBPS down, 15 up. I literally get at least one kid in every topic like you who thins it doesn’t exist.
You sir are either an idiot or a troll. Also- if you want me to brag about myself… go look up sasquatch_snipa on mlgpro.com archives. XiT Woundz and Overlooked (both were top 16 MLG teams) and yes I am better than you… how that makes my point about cheating any more worthwhile is beyond me (see your comment above in BOLD).
I post on here because I want the Halo franchise to go in the right direction. I’m not some tool that brags on the forums and condescends to others because I am better than them. BTW I have no intentions of playing seriously in halo 5. I’m 26 married, had our first bby this year and just moved into our dream home a month ago… too busy with real life to try-hard in halo 5. Been too busy sine Halo Reach fell and I still think H2c and H3 were the best competitive games made.
Hope you enjoyed my life story bro…
Also- DDOS’ing is real and happens all the time on MCC because the IP’s are visible due to no direction connection with dedi’s only. If a booter can obtain your ip, he can boot you offline.

Yeah I hope they use dedi’s with no way to access other players ip…
Thanks for the post bro!
Sorry I have to back Sasquatch on this. Halo 2, 3, 4 and Reach all had issue with DDoSers. Any game that has the ability for someone’s Xbox to host that game means that that host can see all incoming IP addresses connecting to the game if the bridge there connection to their xbox via their PC. If you can see their IP you can get them to disconnect very easily.
We were told MCC was to on dedicated servers but that was a lie. a while back a guy did an awesome post that showed how little amount of games are played on a dedicated server and that most games ( 9 out of 10 in his examples) where in fact P2P. So you can assume that on a P2P game on MCC the host could boot if he wanted to.
I personally have been hit offline many times. These are not lag outs these are 100% disconnections from XBL and I have had to reboot my modem and they can hold you offline quite some time if they want. Some are even cocky enough to send you a message asking if you enjoyed their host boot.
But if 343 are telling the truth this time and all Halo 5 games are on dedicated servers then hopefully this issue will be fixed once and for all. You could in theory flood the IP address of the dedicated server but I would imagine they are in the MS Azure platform and have more than enough bandwidth and decent Intrusion prevention detection systems to overcome these attacks. It would be pointless to do it anyway as you would all be booted from the game if they tried that or at worst migrated to another dedicated server.

I sure hope or it is all a sweaty joke.
