I have been under the firm impression and hope that 343 is going to blow our minds with Halo 5. That being said, given their track record and the importance of this game to Microsoft and the Xbox One, they have all the reason to play it safe with Halo 5 in terms of multiplayer and campaign. What do you guys think?
Given their current promotion focus on h5, I doubt it’ll be played safe. They could have just thrown more covies at us, but they seem to be going for a deeper story than just humans vs aliens.
Hey, enemy from a few days ago. Yeah, I believe that 343i really will shock us.
I really hope they don’t play it safe. I want to be shocked.
I hope 343i has hella new content.
I guess the next question should be what if they do play it safe?

If they play it safe, Ironically we still get a better campaign then COD or BF by at least 1000%

True, but I, for one, will be severely disappointed.
343 playing it safe would blow my mind…
Well, they certainly didn’t play it safe for multiplayer, so I don’t see how campaign will be different.
Option 1. The way they’re marketing Halo 5 right now doesn’t just suggest it will blow us away, they’re telling us explicitly that it will blow us away.
Hype!

That’s playing it pretty safe, to me.
And I like how sticking to older themes = playing it safe and rehashing. Guess we see where your bread is buttered, Mr. Halloween.

Naw, 343 is evolving Halo. In Bungies day, it was just kind of the basic “Great hero triumphs again”. Even stuff like Cortana saying, “what if you miss”, and Chief saying in monotone, “I won’t” made Chief seem to sure of himself. EVEN though he’s a Bad-A, he can’t just become another jarhead who just gets the job done. There has to be a new layer to Halo in general.

This ^^^
Go big or go home.
They have to either blow our minds or blow their wallets
I believe they’re going to blow your minds. They’ve stated that ‘this is the Halo game they’ve been wanting to make’. It’s a brand new system, with way more capabilities. The scrapped stuff you may have seen from Halo 3 may become reality, global battles and such.
They’ve hinted at major evolution, and I really hope they aren’t just leading us on.

So evolution is turning the protagonist into a morally ambiguous character who doesn’t always succeed?
Sounds like what went down in the exact game you quoted, which came out ten years ago, and featured a story of failure, suicidal zeal, “Hunting the Truth” (-Yoinking- literally) and ultimate redemption. It wasn’t Chief’s story, no, but so far the echoes between H5 and H2 seem pretty clear. I wish people would stop giving Bungie the short end of the stick in this regard.
To reiterate, 343’s already kind of playing it safe and so far everybody loves it.
I want my brain to -Yoinking!- explode from the awesomeness.
They kept sprint in the game, they clearly don’t do safe that well
I’m pumpeddd
