Now that it is 100% official that halo 4 has officially sliced and diced the halo multiplayer community into bite sized chunks, do you think 343 will try to take halo 5 back to its roots or is it way too late for that?
In my opinion (only my opinion) ODST, Reach and Halo 4 have tarnished the public opinion towards halo, while it used to be its own unique experience once reach came along it started to try to become COD in space and the general population who only play cod and battlefield don’t want to play halo anymore because sci-fi is nerdy and cod does cod better than halo can ever anyways.
I think 343 should have noticed by now that COD players are never going to switch to halo. They play what they play for a reason, they are too stereotypical to enjoy sci fi or the gameplay of halo and will never start.
The only thing they can do to get a big marketshare back is to try to appeal to the adults who are now former halo fans while still appealing to certain other consumers.
I think they need to make a darker, more serious halo with gameplay and tone more like halo 1-3. While I found halo 4 successfully portrayed the creepy-eerie feeling of the original trilogy it didn’t successfully bring in the triumphant themes that the series was known for. The original series mixed dark with light very successfully (IE floodgate, a dark level, preceeds the ark a light level, nd it is clear in the music)
halo 4 did the dark well but not the light, the light that halo 4 did have was too military, it seemed like cod light instead of sci fi. But really, this isn’t about single player I just had to throw single player stuff in there because that’s what I play most.
As for the multiplayer… I wonder if there is even any possible way to make it popular again. I am almost starting to believe that people want to move on from Halo. Lets face it, every fan on this site want a game to play like halo 3 or halo 2. If that game came out it would be panned everywhere, it would feel like a time machine and it would do awful in everywhere except for the hardcore community. The people on this site may be happy, but there would never be another halo game made.
How can 343 go backwards while not making a game that nobody will want to play because they played it 10 yeas ago? Maybe just post one simple idea you think that would help.
I wouldn’t say nobody will play it. the fact that they are putting out a new game on a new system seems like the perfect time to execute a “square one” attitude. it gives the illusion of a fresh start. it would in fact be the perfect time for them to make a classic feeling halo game, because this particular title is going to have the same sales regardless if they pander or not. personally, a better business plan would be to sell a halo 2 remake in order to create the demand for a traditional title. But they seem to be pretending that Halo 2 doesn’t exist. either because 343i wants to enforce there own style of halo, and not bungie’s. Or (and this one is more likely) they want to save it as there trump card for when things are really going downhill and nothing else will save them. you may notice that Halo CE was available in the XBL marketplace, two years before the actual HD remake. they had no problem making the first halo available.
To get back on topic, you have to figure most people are going to buy halo 5/ xb1 just to add to there library. and it is the reason alot of hardcores bought the xb1 to begin with. sales might not be a problem. also, after a year of us telling 343i what a bad job they did with four, they know they need to do things differently.
The question I think you are asking, is are they going to have the “Grenades” to get rid of ordinance killstreaks, perks and loadouts. I feel like it would be admitting they made a mistake trying to swindle us. I shudder to think they would do us like that again. but there is always hope, that this year of backlash and disapproval has made a point. And just because you or I, might have given up on telling them to fix halo 4, does not mean that there aren’t going to be people saying that for the next two years, while we wait for halo 5/xb1
> I’m sorry, the light was too CoD?!

> I understand some of the complaints and likenesses to CoD halo has received, but the light was too CoD? Lighting?!

> As for the rest of your post, people go where the masses are. If something more interesting pops up, they’ll eventually traverse the fields like the sheep that they are. Like it or not, Halo served as the grassy plains for said sheep for quite a while. It’s difficult to guess who or what may interest them in the future, as sheep are hard to predict, jumping off of cliffs and such.
I give this post a 10/10
