There have been a quite a few polls going around on here and through many forums on Halo’s current state.
On all the polls that I’ve seen about bringing back a ranking system similar to that of Halo 2’s, between 90-95% of people who vote of them say they DO want the ranking system back. And I’m sorry but this CSR Waypoint thing is garbage. I miss the days where I could see different ranks for each playlist and have my highest rank attached to me during match lobbies. It was something I took pride in because ranking up back then was very hard.
You needed to find players to go in with and there was an onus on everyone playing in TS and BTB to actually work for the team instead of just for themselves. You got rewards for getting a lot of kills or being the one that scored the flag, so there was some greed, but the main thing was that the team won, and you got rewarded if your team won. I didn’t mind jumping in the face of danger if it helped the team achieve victory.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 were made for people who were competitive and also mature enough to see that working together with team mates was the only real way to get up in the high 30’s and 40’s in ranked team games. It’s not the same anymore. Some people do play as team mates, but nowadays everyone is just selfish and only cares about their own KD and exp.
343 don’t listen to the Halo Community. They just state that we are only part of the Halo fan base so it wouldn’t be fair to everyone else if they didn’t like what we are suggesting, but I think the Halo community has realised this and offered suggestions as to how you can make it a fun game competitively and socially, so everyone is happy.
Unfortunately many other developers have started to do this. Ranking or leveling up in a lot of games these days is a formality because all the developers care about is making it more noob friendly so casuals can feel more drawn to play it and more copies will be sold.
I really miss Bungies interaction with the community, and whatever 343 release next year, they will never ever be a patch on Bungie. I know 343 was a part of bungie once, but they are operating completely different to what Bungie were like during Halo 2 and Halo 3’s operation.
Done their best? Well if that’s their best then it really does worry me about Halo 5.
They made some changes but the games is still ridiculously imbalanced and they didn’t put in a different ranking system, they just made it so you can see a CSR number in waypoint.
They just can’t do -Yoink- for this game anymore… Let’s be honest, halo 4 is on the brink of death and will probably lose support by the end of the year…
There are way to many problems that would take too much time and resources to fix… ID wait for the next halo if I were you…
It’s not dead because of population, but because of how literally unplayable it can be

The game is far from imbalanced. Sure if you vote and play Infinity Slayer, yes it is imbalanced however there are other options. I’ve been playing Oddball all day and have honestly had the best matchmaking experience in a long time. The only thing close to imbalanced was one or two people using Active Camo and PV.
I hate these posts. We have heard them all one hundred times before and none of them improve on the other nor offer any constructive criticism and instead write paragraphs doing the exact opposite by bashing the game.
How are we to improve a game with posts like this? Cut 343 some slack because currently they are doing a fantastic job. Its just a shame there isn’t much more they can do to improve Halo 4.
We’ll know when Halo 5 comes out. I think that all that can be done for Halo 4 has been done already. Halo 4 wasn’t very flexible and I think that it’s time to move on and forget about trying to get 343 to make changes to it. As far as making changes go, forget about Halo 4, and set your eyes to the next gen.

The loadouts weapons are pretty much the most balanced set of weapons since CE
I’ll agree that Personal Ordnance, AC, Jetpack and PV are broken (who thought that was a good idea?)
CSR is as good as it can get for a Competitive Ranking System in Halo 4, I’m just glad that isn’t the only type of ranking, I much prefer progression

Oh, so hey everyone, yeah uh Slayer is imbalanced but it’s ok because we have ODDBALL! What brilliant reasoning!
The game is imbalanced in many ways. The DMR vs BR thing is still not fixed. Weapons are not balanced therefore the game can not really be competitive.
There needs to be balance and symmetry in ranked games at least.
There are many flaws with the game. 343 are not doing a great job, and since the population at the moment is quite pathetic, it speaks for itself.
But, 343 know we’ll all buy an xbox one and buy halo 5 so they don’t care. No one is in a position to think they can make an impact.

I’ve thought about this too, and I’ve decided that I’m done with Microsoft, and I’m just going to just buy the Playstation 4.

No definitely not happening for me. After seeing the direction Halo has taken and Microsoft showing the Xbox One and all the control and restrictions they wanted to place, I won’t be getting one until they’re nice and cheap.
And if Halo 5 piques my interest I might pick that up to. When it’s cheap.
I feel like people come on Waypoint just to vent about things.
Until about three weeks ago I had abandoned Halo 4 to go back to Reach. I though Reach was a better game, and I still think it is, but I went back to play Halo 4.
Since its release I saw a ton of improvements:
more playlists (BTB, richocet, team slayer)
faster killing
I’ve noticed less lagging during games
more skilled players
etc etc etc
I feel that 343 had large shoes to fill, and they made a pretty good game in the beginning. Since then I’ve noticed many improvements yet nobody seems to care. I’m at the point of flipping out because people are saying “Us Halo veterans deserve better than this and 343 doesn’t listen to us”. First of all Halo 4 is a great game and was 343’s first major game without Bungie’s help. I think people didn’t give the game a chance and since the game had a rocky start, they are reluctant to come back. I understand this feeling, but it gives nobody the right to trash a game that might be a little different from conventional Halo’s, but is a great game nevertheless. Since people are too busy being negative to the game, and many haven’t played it for months but continue to hate on it, they haven’t noticed the many improvements in the game. Give it a chance.
I’m am in no way saying that Halo 4 is mistake free or better than Reach. What I am saying is that 343 had huge shoes to fill, and the “so-called Halo veterans” are leaving the game like they have only played the series for a few months. Let’s give 343 a chance. Improvements to Halo 4 have been made, but Halo 5 will truly tell us if 343 has learned anything.

The population is so low because a lot of people were scared off at Halo 4’s release. As I said, if more people played or gave the game a chance it would be better for all of us.
I don’t think 343i will actually listen to their fans. They only care about money and sales, not actually putting out a quality game. They don’t care if the game population goes down drastically like it has, because those people already bought the game and 343i has their money.
Either that, or 343i just doesn’t know how to make a quality multiplayer game, which is even more scary since I could put it together in one day whereas they spend three years and still fail.

Prove it. They took the reins from Bungie and fixed problems with Reach which Bungie didn’t, they made DLC Firefight maps for Reach. They made Forward Unto Dawn and released all the parts, free of charge. With Halo 4 they finally did the right thing and let fans who read the books benefit from reading them in Campaign, they released SpOps free, they’ve been working to improve the multiplayer
They got rid of Armor Lock They brought back: The Battle Rifle The DMR The Covenant Carbine The Beam Rifle The scoped Magnum Valhalla They gave us Forge Island for free in response of the Forge community asking for a flat Forge space. Don’t forget the Title Update that balanced the weapons BASED ON COMMUNITY FEEDBACK. Then there was the Champions Bundle that brought back Pitfall and the MK. V and ODST armor sets. Nope, they didn’t listen to the community at all.
Ohhh noooo… This game is so imbalanced… Yeah right. Has it ever occurred to people who think this that maybe they need more practice instead of using the ridiculous claim this game is “imbalance” as a scapegoat?
Oh and about the ranking system OP, it’s EXACTLY the same as halo 2’s. Who cares if the only difference is you can’t see it. I don’t want everyone quitting when a couple visible 50’s show up anyways, better this way.
You’re wasting time if you’re hoping that 343i is going to “fix” Halo 4. The game is as good as it’s going to get; its remaining problems are too core to the game to be fixed or changed, and the large population that left is never going to come back to Halo 4. What you’re basically asking them to do is make an entirely new game, and that’s exactly what they’re doing.
Given they put in effort to balance the weapons, fix issues, et cetera. I would say they do listen, but it is debatable among the fans if it’s enough and it’s time it takes to update the game.
I personally hope 343 improve on there at times uncalled for vagueness and swiftness in updating their game.
