Among many of the disappointing things in Joe Staten’s update today, I noticed that when he mentioned Season 2, he clarified that the story content alluded to in the past, will actually just be “cinematics” and “story-themed events.”
AKA there will be no new campaign content in season 2. We’ll get another weak cinematic that doesn’t even mesh with the lore, and then the events will somehow be vaguely related to themes from the story?
How does this make the campaign live-service? I played the campaign on game pass and thought surely I would buy it to support it, as I have since CE, but I held out because I had a bad feeling in my stomach. This update totally confirms that. There was no mention whatsoever of improvements or expansions to the campaign. I’ve felt from the moment I finished the game that the only way they could justify the $60 price tag for the campaign would be to update it this year to both improve the quality of the open world content and to continue the story of the campaign/fill in all the missing characters etc. that were neglected.
Is anyone else disappointed at the state of the campaign, and the lack of support for it post-launch? It really felt like it had potential, but now it seems like it will just be neglected until at least December (when we will HOPEFULLY get another brand new campaign, although that seems very unlikely already.)
It’s a shame to see such a cinematic and narrative-driven universe be reduced to season serial content to sell cosmetics. Any faith or trust I had in Joe Staten has totally dissolved at this point.
