Will 343 break their silence tomorrow?

I’m curious to see if they address the dumpster fire that has been this reveal…I feel like they need to take ownership here & make some sort of statement.

why? Honestly, I think everyone is blowing it out of proportion. I mean, their biggest fault here is not coming outright saying the age of the build to address the graphical issues. Its a marketing issue that really does not need a “we’re sorry” statement. People will use it for memes, they will complain and then they will move on and judge it on release. It’s a demo, move on and judge the game on release.

You are literally a part of the problem & you don’t love Halo.

You can believe that, and I don’t really care. Really though, what would making a statement do? The damage and perception are already done. They want to course correct? They need to make sure their gameplay for multiplayer is graphically up to date and solid. Gamers don’t care what a dev says, you want to change the gamers mind? Show them.

It’s called “Ownership”
It’s called “Integrity”
It’s called"Maturity"
It’s called “Responsibility”
It’s called “Stewardship”

why specifically tomorrow? I’m curious

Well I figure it’s Monday & the weekend is over. Idk just seems like an ideal time to let things cool down and make some sort of news update/statement on waypoint

Ah, I see. But I would rather wait until community update blogpost to see it they talk a bit about Infinite

Just because someone disagrees with you doesn’t mean they “don’t love Halo.”

I believe 343 won’t “respond.” Look at Ske7ch’s Twitter. 343 is well aware of the memes and criticism. (I don’t know how they haven’t seen the sprint criticism and it would be interesting to hear their reasoning behind keeping it, awareness and action are different things), but a formal “apology” or response is unlikely. I think their next move will be announcing the multiplayer event sometime soon. They might be like, “well if you weren’t impressed at the last event, this will change things.” 343 is probably going to use the MP event to “recover” from some of the bad press from this one.

I hate to be a realist here, but no one outside of the core halo community cares. If 343 wants to show people the game was not represented well by the demo, they will show them. People will react to that and respond to that. I would appreciate them coming out about it, but its also not that big of a deal if they don’t.

I just think it would be the responsible thing for them to do to put the community at ease. They should have some integrity here & be transparent.

They barely said anything in 5 years. Four months from launch? Wouldn’t get your hopes up.

It really had been a disaster in the press. 343i needs to improve graphics, lighting and textures ASAP

If this reveal had happened under normal circumstances I would agree with you OP. However dude to covid and the difficulty of transitioning one’s work space from office to home I am honestly surprised we got a reveal at all this early. Game development is all about communication among the team. And that is very difficult to do when everyone is working from home.

Honestly, I think they just need to show a newer build by mid-august and a part of the game that is super action-packed and goes into a deep dive of how the game works… Then show multiplayer. Also, keep in mind that when the game does come out it’ll be an 8 month newer build compared to the demo they showed… ALOOT! of work is done with in the last 8 months soo I’d say keep your hopes up… The only thing they’re messing up with is taking so long to market this game which starts NOW! Its time to be excited!!!

I’m sure we’ll get a steady stream of Halo stuff from here on.

Yep, it appears to be behind where we hoped… but given the nature of the COVID crisis they are probably ahead of where they should be.

And I notice there are very few genuine game play videos of any of the AAA games being touted for the upcoming console releases.

The Digital Foundry video was quite informative.

The graphics / textures aren’t as bad as they looked on the live stream. And I do like the overall look they are going for.

But the lighting is a big issue… and something that is eminently correctable.

I like that they have gone back to a more classic art style and music. It feels like Halo. Really happy about that. But, and this is a big but, The silence from 343 on how outdated and rough it looked graphically is deafening. The silence has me worried. The lack of clear formal explanation has me worried. I really want them to knock it out of the park… but this was ROUGH. Red Dead was 2018 and absolutely shreds this… as do many more older titles. Like its not remotely close. I really hope they delay and release a polished product because in 2020 this is not okay. Gameplay looked fun!!! Would rather no sprint etc though. Super happy to see equipment back. Loved the voice actors… I liked it up till walking onto the ring. Loved the nostalgic familiarity but that was quickly replaced with… why does this look so meh?

Let’s hope the lighting and popin is sorted before launch. Pop in was really noticeable. Just don’t understand how that was given the go ahead for the event… or at least not without a heads up “this build has terrible pop in, incomplete lighting and looks like minecraft for now…”
