Right now, it feels kind of pointless (aside from having fun) to be playing for xp alone. I was just curious if anyone knows if 343 will add a skill-based ranking system to give people more incentive to play the game.
I sure hope so. Halo needs true ranks back and leader boards like in Halo 2. The game that started it all. I spend a year trying to get that 50 in Halo 2. Halo 3 was easy. And Reach was pointless.

I know, I know… This is going to be a hard concept to grasp for some people, BUT here goes.
Why should you have an incentive outside of HAVING FUN or ENJOYING the game.
Remember Halo 1? When people just played to have fun, to enjoy killing friends, system linking up and fragging out with a bunch of friends… Anyone tell me what kind of ranking system that used?
Today’s generation of gamer’s is laughable, its about “IM BETTER THAN YOU, SEE MY DIGITAL RANK” instead of I enjoy the -Yoink- out of this game.
If it feels pointless to play a game, then dont play said game.
Halo 1 was good but Halo 2 and 3 were great. If you don’t care about your rank go play team training… nuff said…

Yeah I remember Halo 1 it was just split screen and LAN parties. Why would you need a rank system when you only play the same people? It’s pointless. Also what would stop people from playing split screen by themselves to rank up.
It baffles me that some people don’t understand why Halo 1 didn’t have Ranks and why it wouldn’t work if they did.
If Halo 1 was on Xbox Live it would of had the 1-50 rank system just like it did with Halo 2.
Today’s generation of gamer’s is not the “I’M BETTER THAN YOU, SEE MY RANK” it’s the “I’M ENTITLED, SO I WAN’T EVERYTHING GIVEN TO ME BY PARTICIPATING” generation

No, there will not. There will be a hidden system where you have to look online to even see it. I’m not sure how that will even help, as most people will never even realize it exists. And if people don’t know it exists, that’s not going to keep people playing the game.

Your stats are being tracked and you are given a numbered ranking and the fact that it is on Waypoint and by 343i means its official. Also they said as of now it’s planed for just Waypoint but Frankie said it possible it will be shown in game too.
They are adding it.
But halo1 had no need. Even when we played online with it. This was before Xbox live came out.
Nobody cheated as there was no point.
But we had to have a pc and an Xbox connected with a special program that had chat rooms and mic use. The good old days. Halo 2 came out it was just filled with boosters, cheaters, delevelers and moders. Every other game had it.
I don’t really see a need to have visible ranks in game as I see it as pointless epeen muscle showing. We will have ranks and they will be visible on waypoint and you will get matched up with those in your skill class.
