Will 343 actually gain more fans?

Think about it. They’re speeding up gameplay. They are tweaking the game quite a bit. They are admittedly, making it more like CoD in some respects, but it is not CoD. It will, presumably, have an amazing Forge. Spartan Ops to keep people coming back.

Now, think about about all the die-hard fans dissapointed in the game. They may stay and adapt, or they may leave it. Oh well. Their loss, in my opinion. However, I feel 343 will not forget who they owe loyalty to and will make playlists to keep the classic Halo kind of combat.

Now, think about all the people who have tried Halo, felt it was too slow, and may actually enjoy the game because it is faster paced like other big competitors out there. There are a lot of reasons to be attracted to it, now. Even if they aren’t big on multiplayer, they can still enjoy the game because new fans will not have play CE, 2, or 3 to know what is going on given Halo 4 is a brand new trilogy.

343 is not making space CoD. They are making something new within the Halo franchise–different and unique. Speeding up gameplay does not make it CoD, just like how having vehicles does not make it Battlefield. It could, however, bring in a larger fanbase because mass amounts of people seem to generally like Call of Duty for its faster, Arcade kind of shooting.

What do you think?

Whether they will gain NEW fans depends entirely on the marketing it receives.

What gained so many of the fans for Combat Evolved and Halo 2 was the great multiplayer both those games had. If 343i can craft a multiplayer near the level of those two games, then they will surely gain more fans.

Biased polls are deathly frowned upon in the forums.

How is this poll* biased?

I agree. Pretty much what I was thinking.

I feel it will get new fans. My friends always hated Halo because they were terrible at it (they don’t know how weapons are placed on the map, headshots make for quicker kills, etc.) From what it sounds like it will be easier for a new player to understand and get into Halo multiplayer, which will draw in new fans.

Try all of the above, but mostly the first option.

Halo 4 wont gain any COD fans because guess what else is coming out November… yet another annual edition of COD. So all the COD fanboys will buy COD and not Halo 4.
