Wild REQ Ideas

Weapons are fun. More weapons are more fun. So lets take a(nother) moment to come up with the wackiest but still lore fitting weapons and vehicles for Halo. I’ve got three to start:

Laser Rifle
UNSC. Power weapon that merges Splaser, railgun, and beam rifle. Fires high powered energy rounds that can kill an unmodified Spartan in a single hit. 2x scope. No charge up. Nearly overheats after each shot with a slow cooldown. Limited 10 shots on a full battery. Deals extreme damage with critical hits on vehicles. REQ level 7.

Heat Shield
UNSC. Turret-style pickup.Metal greatshield that covers most of the frontal body save for the feet, right arm, and slit giving headshot opportunity. Has 200 units of health that lower when taking damage. Breaks into small shield when health reaches zero. Broken version only covers a portion of the left arm and torso. Only loadout weapons can be used, and gain increased recoil. Any power weapons are substituted for a provided SMG. REQ level 6.

Energy Rapier
UNSC. Based on the energy sword mechanics, but redesigned to better fit modern combat. Long slim energy blade connected to a hilted handle. Has longer range but less tracking than typical energy sword. RT does a thrust attack that does serious damage, but is not a one shot kill. Only drains 5% of battery. Almost no cooldown between RT attacks. Melee does a swipe that does more damage but drains 10% of battery.
Holding down RT puts player in a “stance”. While in stance, anyone that attempts to melee them will be automatically countered and killed with a unique assassination-esque animation costing 5% battery. REQ level 4.

I thought it would be cool to simply have a weapon that is like an AR combined with a BR and DMR so basically it could switch between all three of the firing modes.

Well technically all three of them are like that. Odds are they each have an unused switch that controls their firing modes.

The Covenant has always used plasma as their primary weapons. Plasma is horrifying and burns things. Let’s turn that around on them.

How about a new ammo for all the load out weapons that presents itself as new loadout cards. Acid filled bullets that do more damage to unshielded opponents and have a small puff of smoke/sizzle where they hit.

I love energy based snipers, and I love lasers, so let’s combine those two.

Blade of the Ancients
“Following the alignment of the Sangheili and the Covenant, new technologies came forward replacing old, which makes these gems of the Old World ever rarer. Advanced Beam Rifle that has increased heat dissipation, battery capacity, and, when fired upon heavy armor, creates a series of powerful plasmatic explosions.”

So it’s a beam rifle that cools down faster, more shots, and if the beam hits a piece of heavy armor, like Hunters or Scorpions, it explodes a bunch of times, similar to the effect of Blissful Slumber, but on a much more lethal scale. Oh, and I’m feeling a deep red or maroon for this, with white highlights. It gives off an ancient Sangheili vibe, similar to the Sangheili mancannon.

Grenade launcher:
Halo Reach grenade launcher, no EMP effect
ONI Grenade launcher:
longer hold time and EMP effect
Juno Grenade launcher:
Larger blast and No EMP effect but two shots in clip

Needle frag
Blamite infused grenade. Vaguely functions like the UNSC Frag Grenade but explodes on contact with anything (does not bounce off jackal or hunter shields). Scatters small needles in a large radius dealing low damage, within a certain range you’ll be killed instantly due to supercombine explosion. the needles from this grenade can stack onto other needle weapons.

Flipyap’s Pistol
When he died I took his plasma pistol, was fun times, shooting two at the same time, killing twice the humans was super fun! Improved plasma pistol with higher fire rate with a plasma charge that deals lingering damage.

Yapflip’s Pistol
What? You think I don’t know by combat buddies? When Flipyap died… I mean Yapflip. No Flipyap… No no definitely Yapflip. Ah who cares they’re dead. Improved plasma pistol that stuns enemies with every shot, if the charge breaks a shield it creates a short range pulse damaging nearby enemies.

The Prophets Will
Personal energy sword of Ripa 'Moramee, who followed the orders of The Prophet of Regret without mercy or remorse. Improved energy sword that grants a major speed boost as well as a minor damage resistance boost.

Eradication from halo wars 2. One shot anything and everything in the game…

Katana: UNSC equivalent of Energy Sword, never runs out but has half the lunge distance of a basic energy sword, can’t double tap and takes 2 shots to kill, can be blocked by holding the melee button.

Ninja Slice: Katana upgrade with active camo generator, same lunge distance but deals a 1 hit kill if not blocked, 2 hits if it is blocked.

Grappling gun: If enabled will replace thruster pack with a grappling gun that can hook to any surface and pull the spartan user to to it.
