I really hope so.
Even better, it’s all on one disc.
Oh man…
R U SRS?!
From what i heard CEA will have its own Multiplayer
i thought it said somewhere on here that reach was gonna have an update so it could run ALONG with the CEA multiplayer. or something like that…
I’m pretty sure it’s one disc, and it’s the just the seven maps coming with CE:A. No Noble or Defiant material included, unfortunately.
i have the noble so thats good. but it’ll have the OG maps right?
As far as I can tell (going mostly off of the 343 Sparkast from E3), the game will have one DVD, and a download code (or MAYBE the whole Reach multiplayer experience, more likely a code) for the 7 multiplayer maps in Reach’s multiplayer. Several times Frank has stated that they do not wish to cause a schism in the Halo Multiplayer crowd, so they’ve chosen to make the 7 maps available for Reach, and NOT build a multiplayer system for Halo: CEA.
Just hope that clears some stuff up.
It is true that 343 has said they didn’t want to divide the Reach community, but that was in the context of a time when Reach’s gameplay was going to be the Halo CEA standard. As of the Title Update announcement, they have hinted pretty strongly that they’re working on a system to provide Halo: CE gameplay to the CEA multiplayer experience, which is quite different in several ways from Reach’s gameplay. First things that come to mind are lack of bloom, and the three-shot-kill pistol, among others.
I’m also almost positive that the day CEA was announced a few weeks ago, they said there’d be a separate multiplayer disc. I am too tired to go dig up the origin of that memory in my head, but it wouldn’t surprise me because of the way they handled ODST’s multiplayer as basically an extension of Halo 3’s (i.e. the MP achievements were Halo 3 achievements; CEA’s MP achievements might be tied to Reach, even though the SP experience has its own achievements… hence the separate discs?).
I’m just wondering if you’re required to have Halo: Reach to play the HCEA multiplayer maps, or if HCEA provides a Reach-based multiplayer client.
> I’m just wondering if you’re required to have Halo: Reach to play the HCEA multiplayer maps, or if HCEA provides a Reach-based multiplayer client.
I believe that you can access at least Anniversary playlists on the actual CEA disk itself. I don’t know about the rest of Reach MP though.
Halo CEA only comes with the seven maps, and the seven maps are burnt onto the same disc as the campaign. It sounds like it will also come with a code to let us port the maps to the Reach disc.
From my understanding, the CEA maps will be compatible with the current Reach playlists and the Title Update changes later this year. I don’t think that the entire Reach multiplayer experience will be bundled with CEA.

I’m just wondering because I have a couple of friends who don’t like Reach but are definitely going to get HCEA. And they’re even excited about multiplayer even though they know that it won’t be H:CE’s MP with online support but based on Reach.
Not meant as a complaint, but there are still a few things that are unclear about how exactly the MP of HCEA will work. Would be really nice if 343i could shed some light on that.

If you can’t be bothered to provide evidence for your claims, I’m not going to believe them. I have not seen ANYTHING that specifies a separate disc for the multiplayer. Just because they’re changing the Reach Multiplayer doesn’t mean that they’ll be making it Halo CE style. Who knows, maybe they will, but I still have no evidence suggesting that they’ll be making a separate disc or separate multiplayer. As for you comment about the CEA Standard being used in Reach’s gameplay, I don’t remember them EVER saying that anywhere… They’ve talked about the 3-shot pistol in the context of the campaign, but not the multiplayer.
It seems like almost all the info in this thread is COMPLETELY wrong and/or made up. Please Provide documented evidence for your claims.

What I’ve bolded above is kind of funny… The three-shot kill has classically been only featured in multiplayer. Go play the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign right now; even on normal mode, it takes a half a clip to a clip to kill an Elite, even with headshots. The pistol has never been three-shot in the campaign.
I hope it’ on one disc. I didn’t like switching from ODST’s campaign disc and Halo 3’s multiplayer disc.
Halo ODST and Halo 3 = Halo C:E (A) and Halo Reach

Hmmm… interesting, I only remember seeing the 3-shot gameplay shown as being from campaign. I’ll double check my claim when I’m near my xbox.

No, you’re right; Frankie did say it in reference to the campaign in the Waypoint exclusive, and that did show some footage of one three-shot kill, but the pistol has never been a three-shot kill in campaign. This may be debatable on easy mode, but I keep getting four-shots there. But on normal, yes, it takes upwards of a half-clip.
So I find it interesting that they’re talking about it like it was all-powerful across every facet of the game. Really, the only place where the pistol was a must was in multiplayer. It was useful in campaign, but one could get along without it. But if one didn’t have one in multiplayer, slaughter would happen pretty fast.
