If you haven’t read any of the books yet, you should read Halo: The Fall of Reach. By far the best Halo book. Otherwise, I recommend The Cole Protocol. Another great book, with some interesting tidbits about Sangheili culture as well. It also follows Thel 'Vadam before he was Supreme Commander.

Ok, Thanks :3
If you want a book that focuses on the Sangheili, you can’t go wrong with Broken Circle. Given that you know some of the lore and I assume have played the games, it’s not hard to understand what’s going on. The first half is about the formation of the Covenant through the Writ of Union between the San Shyuum and Sangheili. The second half is about the Great Schism that occurs toward the end of H2.
But as a general book to start your journey into the lore of Halo, I’d recommend going back to the beginning with Fall of Reach, First Strike, and Ghosts of Onyx. If you’ve played CE then you’ve already read The Flood, but I’d still recommend reading it since it adds in some background information on other characters that aren’t seen in the game, including some Sangheili characters.
As a personal favorite, I’ll also recommend Contact Harvest. It’s what I consider to be the foundation of the Halo Universe. While the Nylund Trilogy is the starting point, Contact Harvest set up much of what happened during the Covenant War. You get background on major characters like Johnson, Tartarus, and the three prophets. And most importantly, you learn the real reason why the Covenant started their holy war against humanity.
I know you asked for just one… but I couldn’t help myself and had to recommend a few others lol.

I have already played the games, and know the simplified Halo’s story (because I read Halo mythos), but I want to go a little bit deeper. Thanks a lot man!
Halo the fall of reach is the book you should start with when reading halo books, it is the foundation of halo, almost as much as the first game
Halo Broken circle gives a huge amount of cool lore about the elites and what their culture was like before the covenant
Halo Shadow of Intent is a cool book primarily about Rtas Vaduum ( the ship master from halo 2 and 3) and is really cool.
