title says it all really (probably spelt wrong knowing me) what do you play with and does Ethernet make much of a difference with good WiFi, I have 60 down and 10 up and my router is Half the house away, would switching to eather net make my consistent connection better ? I look forward to reading your replies and hope you can help me out with this dilemma
I play on WiFi but I live in my own place so I never have a clogging issue lol my friend swears by wired connection though

yeah, I have heard that wired is really important from streamers/high csr players, but have never really tried it so would like to find out from people if there is a benefit
I think wired typically provides a more stable, and less laggy experience. It feels that way for me, at least. Have had significantly less lag since I switched from wireless.

thanks for the feed back, I certainly haven’t seen any reasons NOT to switch to it, and if it provides me with a better overall experience Then I will find a way to wire it up (without it looking too messy lol)

I’ve considered doing it
I play with a wired connection. I don’t have any specific speeds or numbers but I have noticed far less connection issues playing wired over wireless. No major difference, just less “hiccups.” I’d say find or borrow an ethernet cable and try it out and see if you notice a difference.

will do, I may wait until I have moved my setup, but I keep get recommended it,so will definitely at least try it
also, if anyone has some stats (I’m not a technical wizard but will try make sense of them) then include them in your post
Wired is great

k…good to know, I’m definitely going to try it, did anybody get any drastic improvement or is it just more consistent etc?
can anyone explain what Ethernet ACTUALLY does, like why and how does it work?
Ethernet all the way, in no instances will WiFi perform better (other than convenience, if you cannot physically run an ethernet cord).
Interference of wireless signals is a real problem, and multiple WiFi devices will fight eachother for optimal signal strength. But multiple devices can each run on their own dedicated ethernet line, sourced from the same router /(or ethernet switch, a device) at unadulterated speeds.
Also, believe it or not, if a person or dog walks between the WiFi router and your device, signal degradation can be significant. This has happened to me many times, resulting often in deaths while playing pvp.
The only, and I mean only, reason to choose WiFi over ethernet is if the router is so far away from your device that it’s not a possibility, or if it becomes a trip hazard.
I just finished up a large construction project, and I ran ethernet lines inside of conduits throughout the whole home. There is not a place in the home that will not have access to blistering Internet speeds. And let me tell you, it’s worth it. The most noticeable difference between WIFI and ethernet are download speeds. On large files, ethernet could download in 2 hours that which may take 6 hours on WIFI.
But there are different kinds of ethernet cables, even if they all look the same. If you look closely at the wire, you can see printing on the wire sheathing. You will want either “CAT-5E” or “CAT-6” if yours doesn’t say either of those, go to the store and buy a CAT 6 cable. You won’t be disappointed.
Ethernet is faster, there is no latency from the router to your system like with wi-fi.
When I moved to the One, I put it on an ethernet cable, but later down the road, my cat cut the chord. But I haven’t seen any noticeable difference between using a ethernet cable and just using the Wi-Fi.

If the difference is as significant as you say it is, I’ll have to go and get one. I had a ethernet cable at one point, it broke, and I never cared to get another because I didn’t notice much. The only real difference I could see was that the download speeds were slightly longer. I still sit my Xbox right next to the router.
Although thats not saying that my download speed was great with the ethernet cable anyway, I live in the middle of nowhere and I usually have about 3 mb/s of download speed on average. Max is 6 mb/s.
Ethernet is the best, better and more stable connection like Nova said. But the only problem is that you need to be plug to a router and that has a plug to give you Ethernet.

yeah, my router is half my house away, so I need to get a long wire
I just use wifi. I don’t really have much problems. My husband’s xbox seems to though. So his is wired, other wise he loses connection a lot and gets booted from games. While at the same time mine will be fine and stay connected and stay in games.
