okay so when did 343 change it so you can get de-ranked from 1 to lower? It used to be if your a gold 1, platinum 1, silver 1 whatever 1 you couldn’t get de-ranked from platinum to gold. it used to be fair like that. Now you get de-ranked from platinum 1 to gold 6. I’m surprised I’m even surprised
Actually it is more fair now… if you are losing games why shouldn’t you be demoted? what would be the point of having CSR if you wouldn’t demote if you aren’t being successful? you would demote back in H3 and H2 when they had skill based ranks.

Im sure they mentioned previos season on the message of the day which no one ever reads
all I can say is I’d rather it be if you get to a 1 in any rank you shouldn’t have to go back down lower than that. I’ll be down to a bronze before you knowing my luck now. Just makes me not wanna play ranked playlists anymore. “then don’t” I wont. “git gud” already am. Just have off days.
Good. This is how it should of been from the start.

It has been said when the last update came out.
I dinf it more fair now. For example, I managed to get diamond 3 a couple of months ago, and I encountered diamonds 6, onyx, and even champions… Back in the day, the deranking was not in use and I was stuck at diamond 1 against player way more skillful than me. It was horrible …
I’ve already made a post on this with quite a few responses explaining why its a bad thing. Check it out if you’d like.
I don’t know guys. All I can say is I stand by my opinion and think it shouldn’t be a thing. I can see the good in it as well though. But still. You work all that way up to a platinum and then find out that work can be for nothing now. Oh well it’s whatever. It’s just added more rage to ranked stuff. First breakout changes now this.
Good it gives you something to work for.
I don’t know about that. I think working for one rank is enough work. Imagine you work all the way up for that Diamond. But knowing you just got it to lose it. All that work would be for nothing and then you start going down Diamond 3, Diamond 2, Diamond 1 “okay that’s cool I’m back down to Diamond 1 at least I don’t have to worry about being kicked down to Platinum oh wait” Platinum 9, platinum 5, platinum 4. you get the point
look we all have our opinions on this. Some of us like it. Some of us don’t. For me cause I have some huge stress issues and uncontrollable anger. So it’s a problem for me to get my -Yoink- kicked all the time and to have to lose that rank I worked for. This new system is a hazard to my xbox. Anyway no one cares I’m just one person in the world. I’m honestly just not gonna play ranked playlist. Until they reset. I’ll get a rank and then leave it till they reset again. I hate raging is all and I hate drama and arguing with people or stress. But I’m keeping my cool in this topic. Even if I don’t agree with some peoples replies. You opinion is appreciated and thats what these posts are for. Free speech. Somebodies gonna try and trigger me now that they know all this info.
I gave up on the ranking system, when I went from gold one to bronze one. Now I play for fun, and what a release of pressure it was. Believe it or not I’m doing much better. I’ve managed to get to gold three. The matchmaking needs some work though. I was bronze one in doubles and was matched with Champion 3 and 6. My team mate quit after being killed twice. After the match, I looked up his/her record and found out that that was their fourth game ever played.

yeah the rankings all messed up. The fact that being demoted is now a thing actually does take my competitive side out and brings back my fun messing around side. So that way I can play for fun and just not worry about ranks. Doubles is the worst for matching. I wasn’t even qualified and I got put against champions every game I played. So I figured getting placed against diamonds and champions over and over I’d get a platinum rank but of course for my last game I was matched against golds so they gave me the silver rank. Now I can see two major problems with the demote rank thing. 1: people can deliberately lose and go down to bronze so they can get ranked against less skilled players and just destroy them. Which is something I will do but not by choice and 2: lets say I’m a platinum 1. That’s supposed to be the checkpoint. No ranking down lower than that if you lose right? Well now that 343 changed that. Let’s say two of my teammates quit and I’m left with 2v4 and of course we lose. They take me down from platinum 1 to gold 6. That shouldn’t fly. Just saying. I mean it’s bad enough the ranks reset every month as it is let alone adding the extra frustration of being kicked back down to bronze
Yea they need to change this immediately, with the player base going down. I’m a high onyx player solo queuing and getting matched with diamond and sometimes even platinum players on my team and going against teams of 4 with all high onyx players. How am I supposed to win with those odds? On top of that there are tons of smurfs out there that you can get matched against that are like diamond or platinum players and when you lose against a smurf your csr goes down even more. Seriously why should I get dragged down the ranks because the game refuses to match me with players of my own skill level? I’m a really good player and I can’t rank up cause of this crap! At least make it so that if you out perform you don’t lose csr or something. I know halo is dying and all but this just makes it 10x harder to rank up by yourself. I had 3 straight games last night with a platinum player that could hardly get a kill. 1 bad player on your team in the onyx ranks can literally cost you the game so this ranking system is stupid. PLEASE 343 FIX YOUR GAME!
It does kind of suck, but it makes sense honestly. I just wish it was a more openly advertised change, cuz let me tell you that was not a fun surprise.
I’m glad they did it to some extent. After placing consistently in plat and diamond, sometime around August I noticed that I was a little out of my league. I don’t know if it was because everyone else got better or if I was playing more teams but I kept wishing to be able to go down in rank. Now I am gold in arena and plat in slayer and I swear it all depends on if you play a team. I always play solo and I can destroy one game in gold and the next game I will get destroyed and it’s the same for plat as well. Now, I put no stock into the ranking for those two game types. So the deranking, to me, was a good thing. But the ranking overall sucks when you have solo’s vs. teams because it’s not true ranking of comparable skills. So now I only put stock into FFA rankings. All solo players every time. I placed in at plat 5 and now I’m onyx 1700. I made good progress getting into onyx and I am pretty much holding steady at 1700. Believe me, I understand your frustration and I wish you the best of luck!

These days a care free attitude is the only healthy way to approach the game. You can still try to win and succeed, but you have to accept that whether or not you do is often a roll of the dice. In general better players will usually be ranked higher than lesser skilled players. But attempting to apply some logical, skill based formula to your exact CSR vs that of another player only accentuates the flaws in the system. The rank you get from placement matches has been repeatedly shown to not be based solely on skill, or solely on W/L, or solely on past performance. Rather it’s some obscure, proprietary algorithm that doesn’t seem to make sense.
One of the top Halo streamers (he has been Champ in multiple play lists) on Twitch recently commented that you run into trouble when you take this game seriously. There are enough issues with 1. The functionality of the game itself (for instance can I just access my reqs please?), and 2. The implementation of the game for players (servers, rank, MM, ban hammer, etc) that the only thing you can count on is that matches will often be glitchy and/or unfair, when you can find them. From what I witness people who try to take the game too seriously, and this includes their visible CSR, are mostly disappointed at the state of Halo these days.
But you can hardly blame people who listen to 343 for trying to take the game and their rank seriously. 343 has pushed HCS and represented Halo 5 as a reliable platform worthy of paid, professional games on a fair, level, dependable playing field. If you catch a lucky series of play in one of the contrived HCS tourneys it can almost seem that way. For most of the everyday players I see on line who don’t envision themselves as future pros (those who support the franchise) that’s just not the case.
Now as much as this might sound negative, it helps people to recognize the game for what it is. It’s not a sporting event. It’s a video game. If I want to access my actual physical and mental skill at real world shooting and moving I’ll spend the time, money and effort to train and compete in a sanctioned, regulated three gun competition. If I want to measure my intellectual capacity for strategy I can enter a chess tournament. The fantasy, fun and convenience of playing the part of a skilled athlete in an electronic game on the internet comes with inherent difficulties. You have to just try to ignore those difficulties and hope 343 is doing their best to keep them to a minimum. Some might put it down, but others will be able to enjoy it more.

Wow. Excellent way of putting things in perspective. Fun should be the main goal of a video game. Great post!
kind of sucks, but is the most normal thing, we gets used to be always in one rank and dont be demoted, but in all halo series we get demoted for every losed game without a limit
