Yap Yap will be a failure just like Johnson. Why? Because when you see somebody choose Yap Yap you will automatically know just to make infantry countering units. All I can see Yap Yap good at it is rushing. And we already have a crap ton of rushing leaders.

I can see this… A hard rush with Marines and Snipers (or even hellbringers) I think would dominate YapYap.

Could be wrong. Just have to wait til next week to go find out I guess.

Why wouldn’t you say the same for Cutter? He’s infantry based and a very solid leader.

I see where you’re coming from but I think it’s still to early to really tell

Do the Goblins count as infantry or vehicles? If they count as infantry, I would agree to an extent. But at the same time, it’s far too early to claim this.

I personally think eachleader after colony (besides Jerome) was a flop

I wouldn’t say that at all. YapYap has more than viable abilities and even if you shut down his infantry he loses nothing since it’s largely free. Not only that, but he has T1 methane wagons, so he has a base vehicle as well. Off of initial impressions I think he will be top tier.

I’ve been wondering this. Goblins are closer to Kinsano’s Cyclops than Forgehog or ICT. So if it counts as a vehicle I’d say it is quite confusing.

The lines are already way to blurry. I think Johnson, Cyclops, Decimus, and Kinsano count as infantry while mantis, colossus count as vehicle. I’m guessing the goblins will count as vehicle.

What do you see that can be abused? He has no teleport, or suicide grunts. He has no real way to counter infantry at tech one. He has new fuel rod grunts that are only yellow vs infantry and require power to build, and 2 tier 1 melee units, which are easy enough to micro away from. Grenade marines will wipe the floor with them. Sure infinite cannon fodder is a thing, but they’ll never get close enough and will just feed me veterancy.

I thought one of his leader powers actually drains veterancy. All he has to do is constantly spam canon fodder, while he builds his economy and defense. It’s like he has filler units that enlarge his army at no extra cost.

i completely disagree with this. sure canon fodder are weak melee unit but they’re free thats extra hands on the feild that can go gather resources. then the goblins can be massed to 3 on the field that can buff units. TWO goblins cost the same amount as one jerome hero. then you have the early methane wagon that buffs all your grunts also. those 3 things ive listed alone can give yap yap an advantage early game and then he still has more after that to offer so no yap yap will be no where near to as useless as Johnson was when he first came out.
