WHY would you take away the ability to talk to everyone?

Exactly, that was what Halo was like back in the day, before this political correctness. They get their ‘safespace’ where is our ‘funspace’? :man_shrugging:

Like Co-Op, Forge and many other things, I truly think this is something that is missing but will be added at a later date instead something to make this a safespace.

Could be 50/50. Who can tell with 343i?

I’m seriously hoping for it, but the problem is, I don’t think it is. I think they did this in order to entice those people playing ‘free’ games to come over, and make it seem fun enough for them to stay. Unfortunately, it will only last for a few months before it implodes, and those they tried to get to come over leave, and the fans whom they are screwing over by these changes are going to leave as well. Sigh.

Do other free to play games not have in-game chat? If they don’t this would make sense, but I think a lot of them especially the most popular ones include game chat and post game lobby chats too.

If this is to please a group of people that is too sensitive, I think you are right about it not working and causing more damage to the core players. Mainly because the people who complain about all this XY and Z stuff are the kind of people that do not buy the products weather the changes they demanded are implemented or not.

I think they tried to tailor the game and keep the previous comments from the other team that was part of the core online/xbox live interactions removed from the initial reveal. That would try to keep the kiddos who don’t pay for the game, but rather for additions, extras, dlc, etc. We all know that the younger generation is more liberal, and more likely to be on the snowflake spectrum, as well as the ‘everything is some sort of ism’ trend. So trying to entice them over is what they were aiming for. It’s sad to see the wonderful game series be ruined.

Shouldn’t the racist… bigot… sexist…. Get banned from using their mic?

No, not really. They should be muted by those unable to cope with other people having differing opinions, or thoughts. Did you know that there is a word in Chinese, essentially the same as English ‘Umm’ ‘Nega’, that is fairly close in pronunciation to the N word? Do you think they should be banned speaking Chinese? Or do you finally realize that words don’t mean anything, the intent behind the word is more than anything else, and the way you interpret those words are how YOU choose to understand them as. If you don’t give the people saying the words any credence, NOTHING THEY SAY WILL MATTER AT ANY POINT. Unless it is a specific threat, or doxing your information in an attempt to harm you, WHY does whatever wording they use matter in any significant way to your life?

I don’t think that matters much. I was a liberal back in the 2000’s and I had fun with a lot a peoples moms in those times. Plus form working all over the US I can safely guestimate that most people are somewhere in the middle or do no really care about politics. If we include other countries in the mix then IDK which way things would slant.

As long the this applies to everyone and not to a select group of people than yeah. If the bans are going to operate under the you can’t be a bigot if you are a member of a marginalized group, then no.

Hayk_R, I was using the term liberal in a ‘nicer’ way than going a bit further in the comments. I have to be wary of my wording on the forums due to people who report. I think you got the gist of my post though.

Did you wanna say extremists? Far Leftists?

Either way. Sales typically show that those people do not support what they preach. Yeah they will go online and complain, but they will not go buy the products they champion. Get woke get broke. 90% of the time it works 100% of the time.

I still think this is a “coming soon” feature. Just going off the lists of stuff that was in older Halo games but not this one (yet).

I agree, they usually do not support anything aside from Starbucks, or Apple, but most companies think they they need to suck up & pander to these kiddies because they are the ones most vocal online, and on social media. It’s why I hate Twitter, Facebook, Instagram (well, I hate Instagram more because of the onlyfans aspect of it, but whatever), etc. It’s a multi-tiered problem, but one aspect is that we need to stop pandering to the ones who want more and more restrictions, and bring back the openness that made Halo fun, and worth playing.

That’s the opposite of what they want.

I prefer not having the post game lobbies, it was 99% screechers and trash talkers. Still get people sending me trash after the game, stay out my DMs kids.

However, it would be fun if in single life modes all the dead people can hear each other like in Search and Destroy and how Gears used to be. That was more fun, still a bunch of -Yoink!- but easily muted and you could actually have some banter with the other team.

To be fair barely anyone uses a mic these days as most people are in party chat. It’s a great feature but also has made my friends and I significantly less likely to play the same game as each other. Before we’d all have to jump on the same game which was pretty fun.

Haha when I was in Beijing and other parts of China I did find it peculiar until I found out the word ‘Nega’ in Chinese is equivalent to our word ‘that’ so it gets said a lot.

However there is no spite in it, although in other cultures it has become to be a derogatory term. So you do need to respect the places past histories and the age of people you circulate. What could be offensive for one may not be for anther. But respect should be universal.

Then if it’s impossible to regulate I see only one option for them to turn too.

Proximity chat and pre-game lobby chat and post lobby chat.

All needs to come back!!

Don’t think all three of them has been available since Halo 2. Yeah, at times the trash talk was unbearable, however this is how met some of the friends I have from Halo 2 to this very day.

Please bring the ability to communicate.

It’s been teen rated for a while now. Sucks but it’s no longer a mature game

Should be a toggle.

I would switch it off though, seems like very few people can communicate over Xbox live without using crude language which, believe it or not, not everyone wants to listen to.

Nearly 3 months after release I get the feeling, that communication options are left out on purpose.

343i does not want, that people could easily exchange about the biggest flaws of this game (I think they knew the bigger issues since release). This could lead to a faster shrinkage of the playerbase or are more toxic environment of the community against the developers.

If you can freely talk to others, espacially to the enemy team, you can ask them to help with certain challenges. E.g. Killjoy wouldnt be as annoying as it is anymore and people would buy less challenge swaps to avoid these kind of challenges.

And as usual: The UI is such a ducktaped mess that implementing communication features would break BTB again or maybe even more and is very complicated in general.

I can’t destroy people’s egos anymore after a FFA game that I won. I miss doing that in halo 5. Post game lobbies made the game so much more fun. You not preferring them is exactly why we have limited chat options now. If only people didn’t whine and complaint about trash talkers then people wouldn’t be complaining about missing features

Do you really think a few post game comments destroyed people’s egos?

I always used to think an obnoxious yappy player was bad. Again whether they win or lose, I have no respect for them. At a high level you run into the same players a lot, it’s nice to run into the chill ones that are good at the game. Always used to have a post game comment with them.

Remember a game of Halo 5 where we had a decent comeback and still lost by one second in Strongholds. My team were all randoms and had mics and everyone was getting hype, we were all happy saying GG damn, so close. Other team just started trash talking immediately. It was an awesome game, no need for that really. Was an awesome game, and the enemy team could have easily shared that but I guess screeching YOU’RE TRASH was too irresistible for them.

Did they get rid of it because people asked for it? Who knows? I’d hazard a guess more people aren’t interested in having it than are. I never complained about it, but if asked for my preference then I’d happily say no to it.
