Why worry?

I don’t understand why there is so much uneducated speculation on how bad things will be.

So far, all 343i has been doing is tying up the loose ends of Bungie and transitioning into thier new role. They actually have not done anything completely on their own yet. H4 is their first game ever isn’t it? So how can anyone say they have a bad track record, at all. Why? Because of some unpopular tweaks to preexisting data that they didn’t create themselves in the first place? How can we possibly know what they have to deal with. How much work it would take to satisfy every little nitpicker on the internet. Just how many people that sit around whining know anything about the difficult, meticulous work it takes to balance any program for the market, much less something like a game that has no real world standard like business applications do.

343i doesn’t work on anything else, they were founded specifically to keep Halo going, that’s all, so wouldn’t you think they are sitting around looking at Bungie’s notes with the exact same worries and contemplations that we have? Worrying if they will be the ones to kill Halo? I don’t think they make changes lightly.

I just don’t think that 343i is working on some radical departure from previous Halos. Don’t forget, Bungie and 343i went back and completely remastered and updated the game engine and graphics for Reach and the coming Halo series. I don’t think they would go to that much trouble just to throw caution to the wind and gamble with sales. I think everything has been planned well in advance and is carefully plotted according groundwork set down by Bungie and their writers long ago.

While other companies often have many things to worry about 343i does not, Halo is their existence, all day, every day. Research, testing, surveys, hidden stalkers who follow players. They even conduct psychological research to seperate what players say is their opinion and what they actually do in the games.

So, as may father has always said to me, just wait and see. How can you form an opinion on something that technically doesn’t exist yet? All we’ve seen so far is a teaser with the bare minimum of intel to work with.

I’m sorry about ranting, but I can’t stand uninformed whining when my six year old nephew does it, much less when adults do it too.

If I’m causing trouble on here, I do not mind my topic being stopped or whatever.

Damn, I gotta pay for a lot more beers than I thought with ppl acting sensibly lately, I thought like 2 maybe 3 at most, bravo sir, well done. I’m happy to be part of the reasonable minority

Everything they’ve done points directly to their intent to destroy Halo.

Anyone who has seen a franchise be destroyed before knows exactly what it looks like.

Whew. I thought the first response would be the wrath of god.

But I see this exact kind of complaining about other things I’m interested in. Like Model railroading. The nitpickers in the Model RR industry took over, now every new product is “perfect” and unaffordable. I see the same kind of people here.

I think the nitpickers think they should be selfishly in charge of everything. I was attracted to Halo by Reach and laid a good chunk of dough down to get a console and everything just for that one game and I love it, but would they like my noob opinion, no.

Now while I’m death on nitpickers, I do have to admit that new management has killed many, many enterprises in the past. Stores like K-mart had “the next big thing” and then killed them selves with bad management. I think Microsoft didn’t take the Mechwarrior franchise seriously after getting it from Fasa corp, so they made into a childish looking joke. I can’t think of the other examples right now.

But, yes new management is something everyone should keep a close eye on, but panicking when we haven’t seen anything yet is hardly the answer.
