Why won't Firefight give me cR (Halo Reach)

I was playing gruntpocalyspe on legendary, I hadn’t changed any setting, and when I finished I got minimum cR.
I’m new to Reach’ s firefight and was wondering if this is how the game worked

If you are playing offline or playing a Firefight custom match, you will get next to no cR. If you want a big amount (twelve-to-fifteen-thousand), then you have to go online and play Firefight Matchmaking.
