“We need to keep it simple for the mentally challenged.” What the -Yoink- is that supposed to mean? Snipers means SNIPERS. SWAT means SWAT. I’m not gonna walk into Capture the Flag and complain that there’s no Grifball and that I should play defense. I’m not gonna go into Big Team Slayer and complain that the vehicles ruin the gameplay. Just give us all the playlists so people will stop -Yoinking!-.
Of course it’s going to be a niche number playing the gametypes. Some people can’t play Snipers 24/7, but we like having the option!
People will complain no matter what. If every playlist was always available, people would want variety. As long as everyone is still going to find something to be upset about, I prefer the rotation system they have set up. It is something to look forward to every week and kinda has that random double exp playlist feeling from Halo 3.

That was actually a sarcastic remark that the OP made, not Ellis defending rotating playlists.

Um lol he said its hard for people to find playlist and that they get confused so i was being smart can you not read?

I wouldn’t be so mad if he gave me the reason you did instead he gave me that wild excuse you know?

Zulgen says it. I do think 343 should have added as many gametypes as they could in custom games so those extremely amazing forgers from reach can destroy the community with a flood of amazing fun. However, 343, you did the right thing with the playlists. It is better there are fewer because over the years halo’s community has fallen apparently. This means there are enough people in each playlist to make it possible to find someone (eg. current Halo 3 population anyone) in that gametype. Maybe in the future if halo’s population rises at some point, maybe, just maybe.
Um, actually, there’s plenty of good reasons for not having them permanent.
Say that you have, I dunno, 30 gametypes.
That means that your player base is going to be split among ALL those gametypes.
If you have too few players in a gametype, you get into a situation where the matchmaking algorithm can’t work right; you have to match too many people with disparate connections and skill levels (for all that I care about TrueSkill, I know it’s used).
So, by having SO many gametypes, you’re more likely to have lag/bad connections/bad game experience if there aren’t enough people to support them.
Having a hopper means that they can see what’s popular, and give gametypes that are new (Regicide, Dominion, Extraction) a chance to shine. If the player base doesn’t like them, they go away: however, if it does seem to be popular enough, it will stick around (Swat is a good example) and could even become permanent.
Also, Tumoral: I’m pretty sure that he was using sarcasm when he made the “mentally challenged” remark. You were insisting that rotating hoppers made it “confusing and boring.”
I’m having a hard time understanding what is confusing about it, except maybe the brief “where’d the playlist go”.

So this is why we don’t have ranked playlists. Halo 4 was made for ret@rds. Thanks.

Dude there are less people in half the playlist now than there ever have been just saying and the most popular playlist from previous game aren’t even permanent its a joke really. Plus never had a problem in reach finding a game in any gametype.
