Why was there no announcement?

Why was there no announcement about the ranks being implemented at the starting screen? There was an announcement about the Castle map pack, the new playlist, but no announcement about the ranking system?

Normally I wouldn’t care, but the CSR is supposed to help make the game competitive. If there is no announcement to the general public that they now need to care about their ranks, then how will they know they exist?

If it has to be Waypoint based, you would think the least 343 would do is give it some credit and tell people about it. Because otherwise this is another BPR and will affect nothing.

This is just another BPR though, just because it’s 1-50 doesn’t make it a trueskill.
People didn’t know what contributed to BPR, just that higher was better… Whether kills, deaths, Assists, wins, losses or in-game score were important was vague.

Same with this, it’s unclear what contributes to the score and 95% of people you play with will never see your CSR, nor you theirs.

Because if their target audience goes online and sees their “SUPER TRUE SKILL RANK OF SKILL” and it’s lower than their K/D, their feelings would get hurt and they wouldn’t buy Halo 5.

Or they might try to B-B-B-B-BOOOOST
Yikes, terrifying thought right there. I can’t even imagine how horrible it would be knowing that someone was boosting their video game rank. I MIGHT EVEN DIE
:’(((

I didn’t even know it started… how do I see my rank? :open_mouth:

You can check it through Waypoint. It should be listed on your Halo 4 service records.

CSR is calculated in two ways, depending on the playlist (it says which playlists has which system in the latest bulletin). Individual based scoring is based on your placement amongst all of the players in the game, and not on your win/loss. Playlists basedon Team scoring is solely Win/Loss.

This is just insulting.

How on earth are they passing up on advertising what could be one of the only things that will keep Halo 4 alive another 6 months? I don’t understand. I just don’t.

Ah ok, thanks

I’ve read that in the bulletin, however in individual scoring is it k/d/a or k/d?
Does score factor, i.e. Do assasinations count for more than regular beat-down (double points)
Does w/l matter, at all?

Why is it per-playlist as opposed to per gametype, if I play IS on Castle DLC and do badly, but win perhaps because I had good teamwork and then play the IS playlist the same, I would have wildly different CSR…

Team scoring is based on win/loss, so essentially its still meaningless? If you get paired with randoms in team slayer and go 20-0 but the rest of your team is terrible, then you have a lower rank than your true skill level.

CSR isn’t in the game, so why announce it in the game? Matching is still done by Trueskill anyway, so except for people who come to forums and poke around waypoint, nothing has changed.

To get more traffic on their website and promote their CSR system maybe.

Yeah, probably should have said something on the in-game pop-up, but it does say visit halowaypoint.com on all of them.

If people were interested in stats/1-50 ranks they would have checked the website out by now I would have thought.
