Why was there never a Campaign Balance update?

I’m just curious, because there were multiple threads asking for Campaign Feedback and I saw a lot people giving feedback on Legendary difficulty and how utterly insane and unfair it is. The AI is spamming their Leader Powers left and right with ridiculously low cooldown times, faster than you can actually react or heal up again. Like, it literally melts through every unit. Have like 20 Marine Squads? Well not anymore. Meanwhile, your own Leader Powers are barely scratching the health of the enemy AI. The AI is also cheating on multiple occasions. On mission “One Three Zero” (not the only mission where this is happening), the enemy units can detect your invisible Lotus Mines and shoot them without having a unit that actually can detect these things. They literally have not a single unit that is capable of doing that in that mission, yet they can see and destroy them. The same is happening with your invisible Sniper units, which are also being detected without the AI having the propper unit to detect those.I forgot the mission name on where I noticed this, though.

There were many more examples in the other threads, but there wasn’t a single balance update to the Campaign that adressed issues like these and the question is why?

Why does something like this not receive a balance update, but MP still receives balance updates? Are Campaign Updates not equally important, because “people only play them once”?

Number one reason would cause the difficulty of the missions would be out of wack. The Campaign was designed with the very first balance of Halo Wars 2 and the difficulty is based on it. If it was balanced based on multiplayer, missions may be to hard or easy than what they were designed to be.

I played campaign for the first time last weekend, I don’t know what the fuss is all about regarding the glassing beam. You need to abuse the fact that the AI will only target one unit at a time, you need to keep microing the one unit its hitting away from the rest of your army. If you still have difficulty avoiding it, cast restoration drones on your army before splitting.

I have a very hard time understanding what you wrote for the most part. What do you mean with “out of wack”?

Also, I think you very much misunderstood my post. Nowhere did I ask for the Campaign to be balanced based on Multiplayer. Single Player and Multiplayer are 2 very different things and should be balanced individually.

Which Missions did you play on Legendary, so far? Because it will get way harder than what you describe, especially in Missions were you begin you have a limited squad and have to play with that limited squad for 10+ minutes.

Also, it’s not just the Glassing Beam. The AI is cycling through 2 or 3 Abilities with every wave they attack you with due to ridiculous low cooldowns on their abilities. Restoration Drones also don’t help much, when the Glassing Beam melts through your units in 0.1 seconds. In most cases, the Beam is also faster than your units can move, so you can’t run away either way. You simply can’t counter the ridiculous ability spam in most missions, which is what my main problem is.

Beating the game on Legendary isn’t really a problem with enough patience, but as soon as you try to go for Gold Medals or Par Time, it becomes a nightmare. The game is very unfair in that regard. There’s no denying in that.

Which missions are you finding these problems in? Par times can be a bit tricky sometimes but I’ve never personally found anything unfair about campaign on legendary difficulty.

I think that’s because you simply don’t care much about it. I mean, when checking your stats, you didn’t beat a single mission in Par Time. In fact, you have several missions that you beat in Double the Par Time (4 missions over an hour even) and you talk about how you don’t find that unfair? Everyone can sit back at their base, build units and attack in waves until you crumble the enemy eventually. That’s really not a challenge. Try that in the Par Time and get a Gold Medal and I will be impressed.

An other fun fact: The Global Xbox Live Unlock Percentage for beating Halo Wars 2 on Legendary is 1.69%.Even the last achievement that I’m trying to get, which is getting a Gold Medal in Legendary Co-Op is sitting at 1.94%.

As someone that plays dark souls (the cross fit vegans of video gamers) I can attest that the cleansing beams in the campaign on legendary are tedious and probably unfair. The balence was also never updated from launch values so marines and cyclops do fairly well and locust kill absolutly everything. It’s not unmanageable, but you need to know “how it’s broken” to win effectively instead of actually building counter units which I think is kinda lame.
