why was the plasma repeater carried over, aka the storm rifle, into halo 4 and 5 while the plasma rifle doesn’t get into 4, and 5. after all the plasma rifle is waay older than the repeater
I know I really miss using the plasma rifle I wish they would add it back. And before anyone says then play mcc I don’t have mcc.

It was spotted in the Warzone Firefight trailer, actually.
So it might just come back if they deem it worthwhile, which I hope it does. I remember seeing a freeze-frame where the Brute version of it was right there in plain sight.
All the normal one would require from that is a simple retexture and weapon-tune, assuming the Brute Plasma Rifle has the same characteristics from Halo 2.

Many on the forums, including myself, believe it to be a swords of sanghelios variant, as the brutes are unlikely to come back.

It’s returning with Warzone Firefight.
In canon wise, the storm rifle was developed to be the main arms of the storm elites or basically replace the plasma rifle. Would be fun if we had a small boss in warzone where an elite dual wield plasma rifles for the hell of it.
I think it will return in one of the future DLC’s

We’ll have to wait and see, I suppose.
The Gravity Hammer managed to sneak in, so it isn’t completely out of the question, the SoS also used normal covenant weapon in the campaign.
Considering their designs, though, it would make sense if it were that way as well.
Never really used the plasma rifle but I’m cool with more weapons
The Brute version would most likely be a different version of the default Elite one if it was implemented. Having a new REQ is way more interesting than just having another colour even if it isn’t true to the original.
Storm rifle is better, plasma rifle is redundant.
The plasma rifle was pretty much the trademark weapon of the Covenant in CE. Along with the plasma pistol, these two were common in the campaign, but they helped pop shields like it was nobody’s business. The needler is pretty much the only consistent weapon that has stood the test of time over the years.

That’s the reason right there. It was outdated and so the Storm rifle was created to replace both the plasma rifle and repeater.
Good news is that they may sneak brutes and their plasma rifle into the Warzone Firefight beta next week.
