In Reach there was motion blur that happened between frames to make them look smoother. In Halo 4, if you walk really slowly with any weapon, it’s incredibly choppy. Not to mention viewing the armor in Halo: Reach and viewing the armor in Halo 4 shows a significant difference of motion blur.
Any explanation?
Lack of motion blurr provides a much cleaner, sharper image.
Reach’s has a number of moments where blurr just distorts everything, like the random hut they’re in at the very start of the game.
Seeing as H4 pushes the 360 harder than reach did, blur likely would have made things pretty ugly.
I didn’t really notice the blur, but when I went back to Reach, I did notice the blur on the red dots on the motion tracker. It was really weird when you’re not used to it.
Reach motion blur was gross.
Usually don’t point out people complaining, but really. A complaint about Halo 4 having next to no motion blur? I assure you that there was nothing natural about motion blur in Reach, and developers typically aim for less motion blur.
The whole point is to rid of motion blur…
> Reach motion blur was gross.
I wish they would make it optional in future games. I agree with the OP, I do think it helped the low fps look a lot smoother. In short I would prefer motion blur.
Maybe they could make it optional so everyone could be happy.
A lot of people complained about the motion blur in Reach, so it makes sense that they’d take it out.
You guys are crazy!
I LOVED motion blur, it made things look so much better. Without it, games just look choppy. I love halo 4, but it could use a little motion blur.
I really noticed it in halo reach when I was playing that the other day.
I think game developers shouldn’t try to break away from it, it looks really HD, smooth, and just overall makes the game look so much cooler when doing things like sprinting, or running and looking at the ground.
Personally only a fan of small amounts of motion blur, Halo 3 style.
But the reason is because motion blur takes a hi on your framerate, and Halo 4 is already at the minimum 30.
I like motion blur when it’s used to give the player a sense of speed if that makes any sense.
Uh, because the incredibly excessive motion blur in Reach was utterly horrible?
Actually the motion blur was what stopped me from playing Reach. I actually got physically sick from trying to keep up with the motion blur.
I’m glad it’s gone and I pray they don’t bring it back. I’m all for realism, but the blur was just not fun for a lot of people.
It looked terrible. I’m glad it’s gone.
I liked the motion blur, I even liked the Beta’s version which was yet more so than the final game’s motion blur. In hindsight, I’m not really sure why though.

You seriously stopped playing game simply because of motion blur?
Dude. Seriously…
This community man, c’mon.
