Why would a company be disbanded?
Can a company be re-formed after it has been?
Can the progress made be reclaimed after company has been disbanded?
A company is usually disbanded at the discretion of the company leader. So, it’s best to ask your leader why the company was disbanded. I don’t believe any progress can be reclaimed since disbanding effectively deletes the company and its stats. A company can be re-formed, but it would be an entirely new one.
Thank you for your reply, and your effort to answer my questions. Our captain was suspended for misconduct which I believe as you say led to our company being disbanded. Years of hard work lost, We are all vexed after three years of commitment to see it ripped from our grasp, with a few days left too completion.

After looking into it, the company was disbanded for breaking Xbox Live Terms of Use by attempting to sell spots to the company.

Only if you manage to play against them on Community Playdates do you get the Ice Unicorn skin. If you match with them outside of that, you get nothing.
