Why two discs for halo 4?

I didn’t really get the reason why Halo 4 has two discs, can someone please tell me why?

Because the game is far too large to fit on one disc alone. Everything will run off of the main disc, though–the second disc is just to install the multiplayer, and after that you’ll hopefully never have to pop it in your Xbox again.

343 is very ambitious. So Halo 4 needed two discs.

One disc has the campaign while the other has the infinity i believe. You install Disc 2 and then can play both by inserting disc 1. Disc 2’s contents can be accessed via Disc 1’s menu, i don’t believe it works the other way though.
