I’m not here to criticize anyone who likes sprint, it does speed up gameplay, but i’m tired of people running away from battles they cannot finish. I feel the thruster pack is a good replacement for sprint, it can give you a little speed boost when you need it, and it can allow you to escape a gun fight for a few seconds without completely abandoning the fight (unless you try to walk away, but chances are you won’t get very far). The only downfalls I see for this are loosing the ability to charge and slide (which won’t bother that many people because I guess it bothers them), and slowing down Big Team Battles. However, there is a small fix for slow BTB games, all 343 has to do is utilize the gravity lifts, cannons, and teleporters. Gravity lifts allow you to reach the tops of structures faster, Man-Cannons launch you to different points of the maps, and teleporters, well, they teleport you to different areas of the map. Lets not forget about those thrusters too, lol. This is a simple way of increasing game speed without sprint in Halo 5’s BTB.
Tell me what you think, or if you disagree.
I dont agree with people that say ‘people can escape fights with sprint’. They seem to forget that they also have sprint, and can advance towards them at the same rate. Then theres the ‘it turns into a cat and mouse chase’, which has always been part of Halo. Since you use to move at the same rate as the enemy, you’d be chasing them for a long time, before completely restarting a fight. All sprint does is speed up gameplay, and actually gives less chance of the enemy escaping.
Movements always been a big part of Halo, all 343i is doing is enhancing it.

I can see your point, but do you ever get annoyed when you chase a runner and he leads you where he’s team is, or do you feel that that situation can be used as a team mechanic, like “There’s a guy chasing me with low health, but mines lower, finish him off for me”

yea thats the point
I feel this “cat and mouse” game also stems from motion tracker. The faster movement options would actually help you catch your enemy if they weren’t able to see your red dot at all times. Gosh, I really don’t like motion tracker. It ruins any kind of independent plays.
I agree.
But not for the reason you talked about.

Of course it’s annoying, but also happens to be the definition of tactical game play. It’s almost as if you’d said, “do you ever get annoyed when you lose because the other team did something to win?” Yup, I do. But that’s the game. The mechanic is irrelevant.
THIS. I have been thinking this. In Reach, Sprint was a temporary speed boost to surprise your enemy. It was a BIT too good, but I think thrusters are perfect for that purpose.
Yes. I like the thruster pack. And it doesn’t have such a bad effect on map design like sprint.
Sprint is not going away, but I am in favor of a 20% base speed increase and a decrease in sprint speed.

Did you even play the beta? You cant engage sprint if you are being shot at (note: being shot at while already sprinting does not disengage sprint). The game literally wont let you sprint away in the midst of combat. The only way to even get sprint activated is to be in a non-damage-taking-state, and then if you are able to do that, sprinting = delayed shield recovery.
[edit] oops, double post.
NOOOOOO keep spartan abilities as they are 343!!!
