Never hated any change to halo until now. Really don’t understand why thrusters where added. Just put in clamber, ground pound, shoulder bash, infinite sprint, and slide and you’ve got a perfect step into the future with halo. Because of thrusters however we have one of the most irritating multiplayers I’ve ever played. Boosting away when loosing a engagement is the worst multiplayer gameplay mechanic I’ve ever seen. Sorry just think halo 5 would have been great without boost. If we have to have boost, it really needs some kind of penalty or limitation like they did with sprint.
You can boost away, but you can also boost forward. Thruster is a tool and you can use how you want it, defensively or offensively. Good players will always make the best of it.
Well, it was in Halo 4 as well. I was always surprised at it’s lack of use, when it had and has so much potential. Personally, I think it adds another layer to combat - especially to those that know how to actually use it, instead of just using it to escape people. Thrusting over players as they come at you to land an instant assassination is the ultimate ninja move. Imo, sprint is more harmful than the thruster pack, and they’ve balanced sprint as much as it can be in this game. It still -Yoinks!- with the map design though.
Completely agree with this. The thruster should at least not cover such a large area. The thruster has almost single handedly turned the Halo formula from Guns/Grenades/Melee into Guns/Legs/Thruster. I’m pretty much ok with Sprint at this point, but I absolutely do not think it should be infinite
I absolutely despise ground pound, not so much the concept but more the execution. Having Ground Pound on the crouch button is a hinderance. I hope the final release has more options for ground pound.
could have been? it is great
Perhaps the only Spartan Ability that has not grown on me since the beta was announced. The changes it makes to Halo’s core gameplay is by far the most drastic because of how far the distance is… I think that reason alone is why Elites never used thrusters to dodge your shots in past Halos.
Making it part of Halo’s core gameplay, in my opinion, was also a step in the wrong direction, because it permanently alters Halo’s sandbox. The long kill times and abundance of cover gives you very little reason to be offensive, and I’m sure vehicles won’t coincide well with the Thruster Pack either. Gandhi hopping, strafing, crouching etc. are no longer effective in dodging the opponent, among other things. I knew nobody would notice any real differences during week one, because of AR starts, but it’s clear now what it does to the sandbox, because BR starts are unbearable.
Despite it’s introduction in Halo 4, the Thrusting mechanic simply works better in Advanced Warfare. I can actually see it being used in future CoD games, because the sandbox supports it with extremely low kill times, low amounts of cover, and an abundant choice of automatic weapons. The sandbox really didn’t have to change to accommodate it.
When I think of Halo Multiplayer, I just don’t picture Spartans thrusting around. It feels foreign seeing it featured on such a large scale. I don’t want them in Halo 6, and I am doubtful they would be anyway…
