Why things like AAs will make halo fail

Why did halo succeed in the first place?

The simple answer is- It was incredibly easy to pick up and play and yet very difficult to master.

It appealed to everyone. It’s actual gameplay was incredibly streamlined which made it very easy for new players to understand how to play and jump right in. At the same time there was depth to what was there. It got you hooked right away and then kept you hooked.

COD since COD4 has done the same thing. Not in the same way but they still did it. Easy, straight forward gameplay to ease people in and deep player investment systems to keep you hooked.

When you look at at game like Reach or H4 it doesn’t and cannot work like this. Because of things like AAs the actual core gameplay is rather convoluted and overly complex. For a new player there’s a lot of stuff going on. It’s not an easy game to pick up and play. At the same time AAs do not provide deep gameplay either. It provides the worst of both worlds and for this reason I think Halo may be in serious trouble. If the game cannot keep new player’s interested nor appeal to the high level players who is left? The middle section of long time players who are not very good? That’s not a lot of people.

I respectfully disagree OP.

What Knight said, I disagree.

you would think the armor abilities would add more depth, not take it away.

halo 4 might not be as simple as it used to be but I know the CoD fans at least will adjust pretty easily.

I think I should start a Thread called “Why things like uninformed opinions and thread repetition will ruin Halo Waypoint.”

C’Mon, we know these things that are somewhat similar will be implemented in a less complicated way than in COD.

Trust but observe!!!

Op, just because you require games to be easy and dumbed down for you in order to play doesn’t mean Halo 4 will be too complex for the rest of us. The fail is on you.

i disagree with the OP my first game was Reach and one of my 1st games was squad slayer and i had the highest kills out of everyone in the game. all that i used was jetpack, from playing the campaign I picked up rudimentary knowledge about the abilities and could tell what they did
Armor Lock- “cool fist pound”= the thing that the “party apes” used to save their -Yoink- from getting blown up with plasma grenades

Hologram-“every nerds secret weapon”= the trick that the “raptors” used to distract me

Camo-" Now you see me, now you dont"= what the overgrown lizards used to vanish and throw me off so they could either get away or jump me for a free kill

Drop shield- “the save my -Yoink- bubble” = the blue thing that will save your -Yoink- like AL

Jetpack-“Up up and away!! hard to use? its not a -Yoinking!- fighter jet man” =its a jetpack if you like sci-fi then you should already know what this is…it doesnt take a monkey to know how to use it

Evade-“STOP DROP AND ROLL” ROLL my friends

Sprint-“Track star” -Yoink- DA POLICE!! GIGGITY GIGGITY GONE!!

I still don’t understand Halo 4 multiplayer with all these loadouts and whatever else there is. Hopefully if new players pick up the game it’ll be simple for them to understand. and play. I play Halo 3 more then Reach, because of AA’s and how they basically ruined the game, and future games. Halo 3’s simplicity was better than Reach’s new additions, I rage at Reach when people use AL when I’m about to kill them, then their whole team come’s in and kills me. I think Halo should take the simpler and IMO the funner route, but 343i is taking the Reach route. Which could either revive the series fully, or just take out another brick that Bungie placed in the wall.

You’d think so. But they don’t.

How would COD fans adjust? There’s no powers in COD.

Unlike you I can look at the player base as a whole instead of only thinking of how it effects me.

Barring some kind of miracle, im better than every single person who will post in this thread.

Generic post.

How can you seem to confident? Because you consider yourself a competitive MLG Pro?

because certain things in halo 4 (such as ordinance and customizable loadouts) reflect that of CoD. what do you mean by powers? if you mean AA’s then I guess not.

This is pretty off topic but the first one is me in H3, the second me in Reach. I don’t run into anyone who’s as good as me in MM who I don’t know and I don’t recognise GTs often on here.

I don’t really like MLG either.

I didn’t say anything about ordinance or loudouts in the OP.

Yes powers was referring to AAs.

I wish HALO 4 had NO AA’s but it does i will will have to deal with that and make the best of it.

I just want the game to be great for everyone.

If you added AAs and perks to default chess, it wouldn’t make the game better. But it might catch a casual’s eye for a little while.

Wait wait wait wait wait…

This is getting really ridiculous. First y’all are screaming “AAs made Reach a noob’s game!!!” and now it’s “AAs made Halo too hard to play!!!”

Either way is wrong. Reach was an incredible game and Halo 4 will very likely be more so, despite and perhaps because of AAs and the other “controversial” stuff.

Ya, it’s both.

Then you should not have a problem with AA’s if your soooo good.
