Why they're probably not going to do a H2A

Think about it. If they do a Halo 2 Anniversary, they couldn’t just stop there. The Xbox 360’s servers aren’t going to stay up forever. If they did do a H2A, they’d be faced with a problem. They would HAVE to do a Halo 3 Anniversary after that, wouldn’t they? And then if they’ve already done those three over the next few years, they can’t just stop there, can they? Come 2019, they might even do an ODST Anniversary, probably do a Reach one, and then the year after that, heaven forbid, release a Combat Evolved Anniversary Anniversary.

(Full disclosure for the paragraphs ahead: I’m among the many Halo 4 criticizers. Keep that in mind.)

Trust me, if they expanded it to Halo 2 Anniversary instead of just the classic first one, there is no WAY they would be able to stop. We sure as heck wouldn’t let them.

If they started doing it, they would probably get massive criticism from all across the gaming industry for continually recycling their 10-year-old games, giving it a fresh coat of paint & calling it “new,” and then putting it back on the market to milk us for more money, based off of something they didn’t actually create. Honestly, if they kept doing that, those criticisms would be mostly accurate.

If you’ll remember, Frankie said that they only made CEA because it “made sense.” If they did end up making a H2A, they’d be kind of backing themselves into a corner.

Trust me, I would LOVE to have a Halo 2 Anniversary. I joined the fight with Halo 3 in 2008, but one day after beating 2’s campaign, I was checking out the muliplayer maps, and I found myself fantasizing of all the good times I wish I could have had, had I joined in with Halo 2.

It also happens to have my favorite campaign (Well, other than 4’s, now), not to mention the remastered soundtrack for it would probably be AMAZING, as I’m especially curious as to what they would do with songs like “Peril,” the main theme song, or the Breaking Benjamin song that plays during the huge Arbiter Colosseum battle. It would also be sweet seeing what the Arbiter looks like with 343’s new art style, and having some new terminals, and being able to turn the skulls on without having to collect them every time you got back into the game. And it would be awesome if they added music to the boss fights and gave them more flair, most notably the rock theme for the final battle against Tartarus, and… Crap, I’m fantasizing again.

So, anyway, it would be GREAT if they did it, but they shouldn’t, honestly.

Trust me, I want them to do it. But at the same time, I hope they don’t.

Why they’re definitely not going to do a H2A: Frankie confirmed that they weren’t working on it.

I kind of disagree on the whole “continually making anniversary games” idea since I don’t really see why anyone in their right minds would make a halo 3 anniversary edition, and then continue the cycle of anniversary games. that would be like saying 10 years from now, on whatever unnatural Xbox console there is, expect a halo 4 anniversary edition.

I really think that a Halo 2 anniversary edition would be cool if it had the same maps and game play that the original did, and personally I would like to have it on the 360 instead of the Failbox One since I wont be purchasing that console.

Oddly enough I can’t finish Halo 2 on the 360 because there is a weird thing that happens to my screen on the mission where chief is teleported to High Charity by Gravemind.

You could actually still stop with a Halo II: Anniversary. The reason being that it was an 1st-gen xbox game, and you’d really only need to remaster those. People can still get a hold of a copy of Halo 3 with relative ease. I can’t find any more Halo 2’s. (Not that I need one, I’ve still got my limited collectors edition and play it once a month.)

Don’t tell me you are going to buy the FailStation 4…

Somehow, I feel like I heard that the same thing happened and then they announced CEA, but I couldn’t care less whether or not they realease a Halo 2 Anniversary, if they do, I sure hope the forums don’t get flooded with H3A requests like what people did when CEA was released and asked for a H2A.

oh hell no, if anything im going to get a PC

If they made H2A why would they be forced to make 3 so on and why couldn’t they just do campaign? I don’t see anything wrong with it, hell there are HD collections on the PS3 of PS2 and people love them.

Smart choice. I got one I use to play Skyrim on like 1360p ultra. Not the best one, but I get good frames.

I would love to see a Halo 2 anniversary. They would not have to make a halo 3 one at all.

If its the mission I’m thinking about then I think I have the same problem. Its like a frozen image that overlaps your game image… hard to explain. You can’t friggin see anything because the level is kind of dark in tone. If you play on heroic or legendary its just hell. You gotta endure until the frozen image disappears by its self. Sometimes it takes a while. And dying doesn’t solve the problem.

I can only speak for myself, but an aneversary map pack 10 years from now that includes Haven, skyline and whatever else proved popular… I might buy for whatever next gen console is out during the life span of Halo 7ish

I could talk fondly to children about how much I loved to hate Halo 4…

I thought I was the only one. I was thinking of going back to play Halo 2 again on legendary but this glitch (and the Tartarus) fight is holding me back.

Its really a pain to deal with. It happened every time I played the campaign on my 360. Plus the fact that H2 IMO is the most unforgiving Halo campaign at higher difficulties.

More mindless Xbox One hate. Pretty much every single problem people have with the Xbox One isn’t even a problem, they are just underinformed.

Microsoft announced that there will be 15 exclusives launched in the first year, 8 of which are brand-new IP’s. As well as a barrage of multi-platforms. And we will learn about these games at E3, which is why they weren’t revealed at the Xbox One reveal event. Because E3 was only a few weeks away. So have patience, you’ll get your games soon.

An Xbox representative said in an interview with Kotaku that the new kinect has an off switch that will deactivate the Camera and the Microphone. While the Kinect must remain plugged in or the Xbox will go into Standby Mode (much the same as the 360 does when the video cord is not plugged in, “resetting” once it is plugged bak in).

And when it comes to trade-in games taking a hit. Ever heard of Steam? It’s considered the largest gaming platform in the world right now, and it has absolutely no game trading support whatsoever. And when it comes to how it affects Gamestop’s income, Gamestop was fine before trade-ins became a big thing. And they will be fine after. Modern day consoles could EASILY go to Download-Only if they wanted to, which would completely remove Gamestop from the equation of the gaming industry. The company can be happy they are just cutting down their income instead of taking it all away. Allowing Gamestop to slowly downgrade and making the layoff rate a slow process over time, instead of forcing thousands of people out of work all at once.

The fact is, everyone who’s hating on the Xbox One is impatient, and just needs to wait for more information top come out before jumping to conclusions.

On Topic:

Halo 2 Anniversary should be created for one reason, and one reason only. The ability to play every single Halo game’s Campaign as online coop.

That’s easy to say now, but when the Xbox One comes out, and after a H2A gets released, and after the 360’s servers get taken down, it suddenly becomes so much more likely.

And as time comes on, anniversaries of the following games would suddenly all become a real possibilities, too.

> Oddly enough I can’t finish Halo 2 on the 360 because there is a weird thing that happens to my screen on the mission where chief is teleported to High Charity by Gravemind.

Man, that sucks. That’s my personal favorite level, too. I’m not sure if you even can with original Xbox games, but if you can, you could try installing it. I once had trouble starting up a copy of ODST no matter what I did, until after I installed it, and then played it, with the same copy.

Man, reading through here, it’s like almost every one of you missed almost every single point I made.

That’s a really poor argument…that would imply that 343 would make a full game for the hell of it, from a business standpoint…it’s just dumb.

> That’s a really poor argument…that would imply that 343 would make a full game for the hell of it, from a business standpoint…it’s just dumb.

You mean… Like they did with CEA…?

Halo 2 is the only Halo game that really shows it’s age. CE has CEA, Halo 3 and on are all on 360 and they all look fantastic. Sure, the next gen will probably make Halo 3 look like how I view Halo 2 now but it is still far enough along graphics-wise that we don’t really need another one. Do we need Halo 2 Anniversary? Absolutely not. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t pay with all but my life to get a copy of H2A. Halo 2 is hands down my favorite video game period. If I had enough video game expertise I would go work at 343 for free just to work on Halo 2 Anniversary. The campaign is the only campaign experience in the Halo series that takes more than a handful of hours and the multi-player is simplistic genius. If we never see the light of Halo 2 Anniversary I hope we at least get Halo 2 for the Xbox Live Arcade on the Xbox One. I wish Microsoft knew how much that game means to me.

I’m sorry if I just sound like some sad Halo 2 fanboy. I just love the game…
