Why the return of The Flood as the major threat would be a good thing for the plot of Reclaimer Saga ?
I see several threads about that topic, the return of Flood. People want this, but I fail to understand why.
So you, who want this, explain to me because I don’t see how things being repeated over and over again would be good, would be creative, would be surprising.
It’s not neccesarily a matter of “want”. The Flood will return, as prophecized by the Primordial 100,000 years prior.
Quotes from Primordium and Silentium below:
> “Resignation is my virtue; like water I ebb, and flow. Defeat is simply the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved… but you imposed.”
> “Through long study. The decision is final. Humans will replace you. Humans will be tested next.”
> “It is the way of those who seek out the truth of the Mantle. Humans will rise again in arrogance and defiance. The Flood will return when they are ripe -and bring them unity.”
> “Misery is sweetness. Forerunners will fail as you have failed before. Humans will rise. Whether they will also fail has not been decided.”
> “We are the Flood. There is no difference. Until all space and time are rolled up and life is crushed in the folds … no end to war, grief, or pain. In a hundred and one thousand centuries … unity again, and wisdom. Until then -sweetness.”
> “All that is created will suffer. All will be born in suffering, endless grayness shall be their lot. All creation will tailor to failure and pain, that never again shall the offspring of the eternal Fount rise up against their creators.
> Listen to the silence. Ten million years of deep silence. And now, whimpers and cries; not of birth. That is what we bring: a great crushing weight to press down youth and hope.
> No more will. No more freedom. Nothing new but agonizing death and never good shall come of it.
> We are the last of those who gave you breath and form, millions of years ago. We are the last of those your kind defied and ruthlessly destroyed. We are the last Precursors. And now we are legion.”
So… the Flood coming back en masse is kind of garanteed.
However, looking at the quotes… the Flood returning like this would be pretty freaking awesome for the story.

You mean like how we’ve not had one game where we haven’t fought the Covenant? Yet we’ve had 3 Halo games without the flood. So in a way bring the flood back would be more creative because it hasn’t been repeated as much as the Covenant.
Also if you know anything about Halo lore you’d know that the Flood is one of the most pivotal parts to Halo. I mean it’s called Halo and the entire reason Halos were built was because of the flood. They are the biggest threat to the galaxy.
they need to return. there are a lot of reasons, but my main reason is,
that they were awesome & interesting enemies, gameplay-wise.
and IMO definitely a lot better enemies than prometheans.
> Personally, I hope the Flood does’t show up until the end of Halo 5, leaving them to be dealt with in a later game.

I actually wouldn’t mind this. ^^
I’d much prefer to fight the Flood again. It’s been way too long since we’ve fought them, and it’s been primarily Covenant enemies post Halo 3 until Halo 4.
While not everyone enjoyed them, they were a distinct change in gameplay from fighting the covenant. I felt the prometheans felt more or less the same as fighting covies, didn’t help that they allied preventing halo’s 3-way battles that I thought were really neat.
I wouldn’t mind the return of the flood. If they don’t return I won’t be too beaten up about it, a little confused, but not upset.
It should be incredible to witness the prometheans battle against the flood, the enemy they were designed to fight. That is, so long as 343 does it justice and has the AI’s behave more intelligently.
At this point in time, I can’t see them coming back without the Spirit of Fire. But I don’t see a reason not to keep them in Infection. And they could definitely be a nice addition to Firefight. Nice way to end a round, ja? With the corpses of your enemies reanimating and swarming you, maybe with a Juggernaut or two.
I think that H5G should break out the total chaos of having too many threats and drop the Forerunners, Prometheans, Covenant, and Flood/Precursors on us
Flood return is inevitable. Foolish to think they were actually killed off at the end of H3. Didn’t like the Flood in H3…mainly because they were extremely easy to dispatch.
Yeah for years many original Halo players hated the Flood. Myself included. However I got tired of the Prometheans very quick. I would actually like to see the Flood return. Maybe to have a plot twist and team up with Prometheans and/or Covenant for a while to fight them, this may bring smiles to players faces.
Okay… so the Flood on the UNSC Spirit Of Fire… large outbreak or just a few infection forms?
Well whatever the case, what is the planet that the UNSC Spirit Of Fire is drifting towards? Some say Sanghelios, homeworld of the Sangheili… and some say Palamok, the homeworld of the Yanme’e.
First questions are? When did the crew evacuate… and how many escaped? When is the picture depicting… 2558 or possibly earlier through a flashback?
Here is a theory the Yanme’e have been absent from the main section of the Reclaimer Saga… the Master Chief Chronicles… and I would go as far to call them, a integrate part of the Covenant… so if Jul 'Mdama needed allies why not recruit some Drones? It seems Merg Vol achieved such a task during his lone crusade of Dratheus IV… in 2553.
My answer is the Queen did a mass recall onto the Hiveworld! (BOOM MIND BLOWN!)
The Flood is indeed active as of 2558, and strong, the UNSC Spirit Of Fire has perhaps already crashed… on Palamok creating a Flood Hive… to which the Flood Queen has become something much more fearful… using a hive-based intellect the Flood has become even more organized and dangerous. The Yanme’e population is drastically infected and those who aren’t could quite possibly just follow the Flood as they could still follow the Queen’s orders.
If this is the case I want the hive world, and Yanme’e, to be something like the Ridley Scott film, Aliens 2… and the Queen… shivers That is one way to make the Flood’s return memorable and scary…

This is a great idea. Would make for one hell of a finale.
I actually think 343 can bring a fresh take to the Flood. We’ve already seen their take on a Spartan infected Flood in Halo 4, which is freaking creepy. Personally, I never felt even creeped out by Bungie’s interpretation. The Flood should have horror elements to it, both in design philosophy and the atmosphere it is featured in-game. “Dead Space”'s Necromorphs are a lot like “Halo”'s Flood. I’ve always thought that the Flood should be shown similarly, to give them the interpretation they deserve.
If the flood were to return on a derelict ship and not as a universe wide thing I’d be okay with that. However if they straight up become an immediate threat to the entire universe again, that’s just lazy writing and it stands to make the first three games in the series all but redundant.
