Why the next UNSC leader needs to be anti air.

Think for a moment. We have Reavers and Wolverines (and if you want to count Banshees with their Plasma Torpedo upgrade) as anti air units… That’s it. All too often in rumble when people go air they win especially with the UNSC and their Hornets. So I propose the next UNSC leader coming into the game should be anti - air. With this new leader would come a new unit called the Eagle. It would be unlocked at HQ Tech 2 and would cost 500/50. To go along with it there would be a Laser upgrade called the “Laser Assault”, This would cost 750 power and would paralyse air units for a certain amount of time.

EDIT: The Eagle would be replacing none of the prior air units available to the UNSC.

While I agree there needs to be more anti-air I’m not so sure about a whole leader for it tho.

I would concur with this as that really limits that leader. Rather I would just introduce 1-2 new units.

Banished: Bring back the Vampire

UNSC: Introduce something like a Hornet or other Vampire like equivalent or maybe give Wolverines an upgrade that makes them all the better?

I like these ideas and give wolverines the volly upgrade in T3

Or maybe a volley along with dual launchers? That way they aren’t worthless against everything? Volley to hit some kind of ground target/building. Dual launchers so they actually damage air? I don’t want 4 of them taking out like 15 banshees or anything, but if you have 10-12… they should defend effectively against air.

I agree, when I see wolverines I never get afraid.

Infact just last night an opponent had 6ish wolves in his composition against me. The only air I had were 3 reavers and 4 engineers and they took down only 1 reaver. Sure the engineers heal but 6 should have taken down more since, you know, they are anti air.

I think anti air is in a good place. If anything air needs a slight buff.

No the leader isn’t wholely based on anti air. But they can have upgrades for Wolverines like the Volley at T3.

We have anti Infantry with Kinsano , anti Vehicle with Colony why not have an anti air leader? Anti air is pathetic in my opinion.

Exactly what I was mentioning in my original post.

All good

Is this a joke? Currently the best anti air composition for UNSC is lots of engineer marines and hornets… For banished the best is torpedo banshees with shrouds and engineers… Anti air units are useless as they don’t do anything well.

What makes colony anti vehicle?

I guess Kinsano has a flamethrower drop, but flame hogs seem to just be an improved warthog and not anti infantry. Making a leader strictly about a counter unit pigeon holes that leader. No leader should be about countering a particular type of unit.

I don’t know about Wolverines but Reavers are far from useless. 4-6 of them will wipe out any air army.

I don’t really think Colony has anything to do with anti-vehicle

Fair enough. I don’t play Banished to even attempt to speak from anything but what I have observed. Good to know about Reavers, but I have seen multiple Banished players comment on how they have no fear when they see wolverines. Shrouds just allow air to dominate. But I could be wrong, curious what IIA T AII thinks, him being an extremely high level UNSC player and all about the UNSC anti air, my experience is mixed with anti air UNSC, sometimes I am ok, but against shroud, engineer banshee combo I fee helpless.

I don’t think that is the best composition for anti air. Might be your problem right there.

I never have trouble in my games dealing with an air army it only takes around 5 wolverines added to my composition. Whenever I see the enemy going air it usually means an easy win for me. Against other high level people they never build air either and if you look at their posts around the forums they are actually calling for an air buff.

Hunters. Goliaths.
