Why the month of mythic is bad for Halo.

Greetings fellow halo fanatics. As many of us know recently they revealed the “Month of Mythic” which would seem to basically be various offerings in which a player can either spend 10 bucks or 100,000 requisition points in order to obtain a prophets bane certification as well as 12 individual prophets banes. Now, I know that this topic has been brought up time and time again, but as is with most things nothing is going to change if we don’t bring attention to it.

To get started, this pack is the very definition of pay to win. The ability to fork over money in order to obtain better items than other players is undeniably so. When this game first came out I, while concerned, still had some hope in the req system. However, this is the final nail in the coffin for me. In fact, I am willing to bet that I am a far more cynical person now than I was before this game came out purely due to the amount of shady, greedy, anti-consumer decisions that were made with the req system. Remember when they introduced the system and said that it was random so to avoid too many of one item appearing in a game of warzone at once? This new pack completely disproves this notion, as anyone who pays 10 dollars can basically get as many of one item as they desire. Now, a little bit of what little balance warzone had is now gone, as an entire team can all have prophets banes with a little bit of planning and a lot of money.

I’m sure that this has been brought up before, but why not have a month of bug fixes? Why not have a month of new game modes? I know why, because those wouldn’t make money. This “month of mythic” thing is pretty much all the more proof I needed to honestly understand for my self that this series is being used more and more to simply milk as much cash from fans as possible. And this isn’t even the only way this is evident. Think about how the customization system was made. It was made in a way in which the only way to truly unlock the armor sets the fans want is to either play a crap-ton of the game, or to pay boatloads of money.

When this game came out I wanted so badly for it to be good. I wanted it to succeed so much that I defended it no matter what. However, this is new pack is, as I said earlier in the post, the final nail in the coffin for me. This has shown me that money takes priority over actually making a good game, and that is concerning given that this is Microsoft’s most successful game series. Microsoft, 343, please prove me wrong. Please show that you care about your audience more than this.

So, what’s the solution? How can we try to fix this issue. The answer, while unlikely, is still possible. By not buying these packs they would be seen as unprofitable and would most likely be dropped. It’s too late to do this for the req system given how much money has been made by it, but we can still fix this whole month of mythic issue.

Not necessarily pay2win, but this makes it a lot more pay2win than the OG req system. I really hope they hear our outcry and stop this month of mythic.

Its close enough to be considered harmful towards the franchise. Given that this continues I am truly concerned for what lies in the future for halo.

That’s why a voice our distaste now, so it doesn’t grow into something worse. The microtransactions before this were fine IMO, but these aren’t.

If they’re going to make Month Of Mythic a thing, at least make it AFFORDABLE with REQ points. 20k-40k maybe? Idk.
