I keep wondering this, why was it necessary to change the medal designs? I thought they were flawless. It kind of takes away from the original halo medal feel, with all those random colours. I require a detailed explanation on this matter.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but everything in Halo 4 is different.
Why should the medals being different surprise you? They still look better than they did in the beta state.

343 wanted it to be their game, so they changed everything artistically. 
Because fixing stuff thats not broken is cool.
im surprised no ones complained about the oddball design yet. well. that ive seen.

Not everything, but some things they should have kept, there was no reason to change them. I was very familiar with medals and loved the various colours, the new ones look bland, small, and unappealing overall.

Because artists all this they are uniquely talented. lol

They must have thought the competitive community really liked the original medal art so chopped it:)

Seems like it’s heading down that road.
I really am quite upset with the change. The old medals were perfectly perfect.
They look like -Yoink- IMO, this is pretty much the only thing that has pissed me off about the MM changes
I like the new medals, it was pretty obvious (to me anyway) that 343i would want to put their stamp on it and design a new set of medals to distance themselves from Bungie.
Luckily I like em. They are now much better than the ugly placeholders we all saw months ago.

Aside from the colour, what changed in terms of appearance?

I hate the change also. I thought they were perfect before. Now they’re just random colours.
