Most threads around seem to be related to BTB and when people talk about an aspect of Halo (e.g. Sniping) they always seem to be referring to BTB. For me BTB is a tiny part of the Halo experience. I don’t see why love it so much, it’s just a worse version of Battlefield. Sure, I’ve played my fair few games of BTB, but that was only because my old clan required me to do so.
I can’t speak for other people, but I play BTB because of the vehicles, and the 8 vs 8 setup. If someone leaves your team in Team Slayer, you’ve lost a quarter of your team, enough to tip the balance of the game. However, if someone leaves your team in BTB, you still have a chance to win.
I know it’s hard to understand love when it’s missing from the observer.
To you BTB is just small and insignificant part of a larger world… To others BTB is a world unto its own. A world amongst many worlds, each different in their own way, but all part of the same solar system we call home.
BTB is really fun. Especially with all the explosions.
The chaos is kind of fun sometimes. I can only take so much of it but it’s basically the only playlist in Reach that has vehicles of any sort so for that alone it’s fun. And of course heavies. I love heavies.
The Big Team Battle playlist is awful. The maps are bad and the only thing I ever play is Slayer on Hemorrhage which is beyond tolerable now. It’s one of the worst and most boring playlists Reach has to offer.
BTB is one of the best gametypes for me,why? :
-Vehicles everywhere in Rasu with the Spartan laser or Asphalt with the Wraith
.Its Team Slayer x2
-Big maps and no clausthophobic maps
Kills everywhere
I do BTB primarily because of larger maps, as I HATE the small maps in Halo Reach. Back in Halo 3 my playlist of choice was Team Slayer, and my highest rank was in there too. I loved the smaller maps, Guardian, Pit, Construct, Narrows, GREAT maps with great times. I’ve been doing Team Slayer in Reach a lot lately in preparation for an upcoming tournament, but I HATE HATE HATE all of these small maps.
Countdown? Shotguns, Swords, and Concussion rifles, uggggggh
Swordbase? You mean campbase? Hey teammate, they’re camping the lift with shotgun DON’T go up there…wait why are you going up there? Lol you’re dead, good job not listening to your teammates…wait you just went up there AGAIN? WTF are you thinking? Can easily go from a 10 point lead to losing the game because of terrible randoms who think they can break a 4 man camp setup solo
Reflection? You mean the map which was designed WITHOUT armor abilities in mind? The map wasn’t designed to handle these, it kills the nostalgia.
Uncaged? Just hate this map period
Zealot? Wow a giant circle, what a brilliant idea for a map…
Pinnacle? Firstly not designed for AA, secondly blue team gets an amazing advantage of being able to get sniper AND rockets, whereas red only gets sniper. One of the most severely unbalanced maps in the game
Asylum? Not designed for AA, but they handle it fairly well in my opinion. Not perfectly symmetrical, but enough so that I consider it balanced between both teams
Boardwalk…actually not bad. As far as I can tell neither team expressly has an advantage over the other, but I could be mistaken
When H4 comes out I hope the small maps will be better, so until then I play the larger maps. Also BTB is the full Halo experience. You can do well in a vehicle, with a sniper, with a shotgun, etc. You can fight from any range you prefer, or you can be in a vehicle. I don’t even use vehicles that much outside of objective, but I think they should be there anyway. Vehicles are part of what makes Halo Halo. I used to love the Brute Chopper, basically an armored motorcycle.
Lastly…GUARANTEED DMR STARTS!
My main concern is starting with a decent weapon (If I were part of some elite military team why would I enter combat with a weapon as ineffective as the AR? Why would anybody want to start with bad weapons? If your life were riding on choosing a DMR or an Assault Rifle, you’d either choose the DMR or you’d be dead). Lets look at the playlists which guarantee DMR starts
SWAT- Great if you have a team and decent connection. If anybody else is sharing my connection this playlist becomes unviable. If I don’t have a team I always get stuck with geniuses in party chat.
MLG- (I assume because I don’t play it in Reach). Great if you’re ultra competitive with a full team. Without a full team competitive team don’t bother, if you’re casual don’t bother, etc.
BTB- I can actually go in without a team and expect to do fairly well. While you run into kill farming inheritor teams, usually you go against other randoms so for the most part a balanced playlist (Though maps aren’t going to be perfectly balanced).
So yeah, those 3 playlists (Counting Anniversary BTB in BTB as well), I typically go into BTB when I don’t have a team, I’ll occasionally do SWAT with a full team but honestly there is a lack of challenge in that playlist unless your opponent has host.
Lastly there is nothing like going into BTB with a friend or two, and beating a full 8 man party.
Really TC you should play which playlist you enjoy the most. I enjoy Team Slayer the most, but with the full bloom, lack of shield bleed-through, and outright terrible maps, I’ll be sticking with the next best thing which I find enjoyable, BTB. If you don’t like BTB, that is PERFECTLY FINE, you should play what you enjoy and not be influenced by my opinion at all.
definitely the ability to take out vehicles. especially all the people sittin in there big bad wraiths. hehe! but i cant say too much, cuz i love using the scorpion tank when available.
BTB is by far one of the best playlists. There’s huge maps, loads of vehicles, loads of players, large scale battles and so much more. It’s so fun and makes you feel like you’re actually on the battlefield, especially playing on Boneyard.
- No AR starts
- Larger maps so I don’t have to deal with so much CQC
- Good blend of slayer and objective - though I wish obj was more heavily weighted
- More targets ; )
I don’t always play BTB, but when I do, I do it because there are mongooses. Although anything besides 2 Flag on Renegade makes it very difficult to get splatters.
More people to kill. If you get the right map, the vehicles and the extra heads really make everything better. You have more support, more action, more weapons, more kills.
I like Hemmorhage >:D
Usually, it’s because I’m often in larger parties!
However, even when I’m playing by myself, I still play BTB. The large, open maps lead to some fun long-distance combat. And the vehicles make for some awesome gameplay! Plus, there’s more people to shoot at!
Personally like BTB because of the vehicles and bigger teams.
The chaos is fun too.
I can’t speak for other people, but I play BTB because of the vehicles, and the 8 vs 8 setup.
