Why the impatience?

I was just thinking back to Halo 3, and realized that while playing HCE, H2, and H3 respectively, I was never impatient about when the next Halo game would be announced. Infact, I was having so much fun with the Halo I was playing that I didn’t even care when, or even if, the next Halo game would come out. That ended when Halo 4 came out. It even might have ended to a small degree with Reach. Now, I am chomping at the bit for Halo “6” news, playing Halo 5 just to pass the time till the next game. What happened, what changed? Is it because the latest games “feel stale” after a little while of playing, is the game just “that bad”? Is it just me becoming less patient as a whole? Am I alone in this? How about you? What are your thoughts?

I think it’s repetition of a lot of the same gameplay plus the whole reclaimer saga thing. Nobody likes fighting Promethians.
I love Halo and I plan to sit through the highs and lows so long as they keep politics OUT of it I will continue to buy the games. In addition to that there’s other games that people will be drawn to based on preference. If Halo 6 we’re releasing along side State of Decay 2 Halo 6 would be on the side for a while.

because halo 5 was disappointing to a lot of people so they’re looking forward to seeing some kind of change

I think maybe because there were (not sure) but it seemed about 3yrs between games, plus we got Reach, ODST to pacify everyone. October will be 3 yrs for H5 and no word yet about H6. MCC redo will be out hopefully pretty soon to somewhat keep the hoard at bay… lol.

Halo unfortunately is suffering from the same thing a lot of other video game franchises are suffering from, which is change. Halo Reach is my favorite in the series, you know why? Because in my personal opinion Reach was different but still felt like Halo…Bungie was able to pull that off. Reach was very successful yet people still only talk about Halo 2/3. Halo is an OLD franchise, its been around for 17 years now, changes need be made over time.

The problem is 343I made drastic changes in their version of the Halo games to the point where most fans (including myself) think like it doesn’t feel like Halo. Halo 4 for example, although I think Halo 4’s campaign was fantastic, the multiplayer and the replacement of firefight with Spartan Ops ruined the game for many people. And halo 5…halo 5 feels nothing like a halo game IMO.

-Why did 343i take away the highly customizable firefight/ custom games?
-Why did 343i decide they wanted add ORDINANCE into the multiplayer?
-Why 343i completely change the artsy style of the Halo games? I could understand if it changed a little bit, but Halo’s 4 & 5 look NOTHING like Halo: Reach or anything that came before it.
-Why would 343i add ADS to its shooting mechanics? Halo’s aiming was fine before they changed it.
-Why did 343i think it was a good idea to limit armor customization?
-why did 343i think it was a good idea to add uninteresting and unimportant characters to halo 5’s campaign?

I understand that things need to change over time, but I feel like personally it was way too much change way to fast. 343i would’ve been better off if a lot of these changes were added over a longer time, if at all. They simply made changes that didn’t need to be made to attract a wider group of gamers and they didn’t do a great job. Halo was already popular, why change it SO much SO quickly?

That being said I think 343i has the potential to make a great Halo game, we just need to give them time. Halo 6 WILL be a great Halo game I know it, but until then, I feel like the Halo community is taking a little break.

I don’t mind waiting. Great things come to those who wait

Personally I don’t feel impatient for Halo 6 news at all. I still manage to have fun with Halo 5, but if I didn’t (and it’s completely understandable that lots of people don’t), then I would just play a different game or something. I would be excited for Halo 6 news as much as the next person, but until they announce it, I don’t see the need for it to be on my mind very much.

I can’t figure out what you mean by that. Was politics being in Halo ever a thing to be worried about?

There’s your answer. If you aren’t having a lot fun, you’re naturally gonna start wanting to play something else which is the next Halo.

No 343i has kept clear of any political affiliations. There’s been recent games and movies that have been trying to cram politics where it doesn’t belong. Without getting into specifics it’s big titles under new management pandering to certain groups in an uncontestable platform. I think most of the companies doing this have realized why it’s not a good idea (drop in sales).

I see. Personally I’m hoping 343 realizes why designing the whole game around trying to make players want to purchase lootboxes is not a good idea, but that’s a different story.

I kinda liked the old elites art style, along with the Spartans. Halo: Reach had the best looking Spartans imo, I just wish Spartan-IV’s looked similar to the Spartan-III’s in Halo: Reach. I watched a video explaining about the elites new look and the guy gives good points, here is the video link: Why the classic Elite design NEEDS to return - YouTube

Personally speaking my problems with Halo 5 basically amounted to it falling apart at the final act with so little of it having weight or even a reason for being. I want 6 to just cap off this story so we can go back to the more interesting villain (Didact).

In terms of gameplay I think Halo 5 plays just fine but the story elements kind of make 5 feel a bit hollow. Nothing really sticks with you because the more interesting elements of the world like Sanghelios’s political battles as much as war, the Spartan-4’s, the nature of Fireteam Osiris, the family dynamic of Blue team, fallout of the Didact, the Didact himself, the Guardians and where they fit into ancient conflicts we know didn’t go in the Forerunner’s favor, and the Covenant remnant, all getting tossed aside for a halfbaked villain whose motivations are not only not interesting but poorly defined.

The gameplay isn’t the problem, it’s not the art style, it’s not Locke, or even the Req system. it’s just that after that you’ve seen one or the other you have no reason to stick around.
I hate the Req packs as much as the next person but this game is from 2015 and is only indicative of the time it was made. Destiny, Battlefront, and Halo 5, it was a problem.

I want 6 to not only get a proper conclusion but to have Halo join others in ending predatory business practices.

Honestly, I think it was just the fact that Halo 5 was handled poorly. The REQ system was poorly received (at least from the people I’ve spoken with), the game was barebones at launch, the campaign was bad and a large portion of the studio’s resources was put into warzone which gave them less to flesh out arena. Usually, I would buy Halo and that would be the only game I really played for that year, but honestly, I was bored within the first week.

There really wasn’t anything to grind for, unless you count grinding for lootboxes which, let’s face it, is boring and unrewarding. Even with Halo 4 I played up until the very release of 5 because I felt there was always something to go for. I remember grinding assassinations to get Venator, then I moved on to grinding the other commendations.

In my opinion, Halo 5 is the worst Halo game ever created, which isn’t entirely a bad thing. If 343 learned from their mistakes with Halo 5, the next Halo can only get better. I am willing to be patient if next Halo installment is something worth waiting for, Halo 5 didn’t cut it and ended up being a sub-par FPS with a Halo skin. To sum it up, I think we should be telling 343 what we didn’t like or what they did poorly because that gives them feedback so they can make the next Halo release a better one.

I’m still enjoying Halo 5, but I would be happy for a Halo 6 teaser this year. I just want 343 to take their time and do a good job with H6

There’s multiple reasons why they are, I think for many of us who were there at launch the game a just a pile of bones with barely content. Later then they did about like 8 months of updates with enough content that they should’ve at least had in the beginning. The game had the biggest drastic change in the Halo series if people think about it. Sure Halo 4 changed with the loadouts and perks but that just the biggest change that came to the game after Reach. The game has more or less just been a mess, mainly from the way the Camapign ended or how the story went and how what HW2 would connect to it.

I want 343 to take their time and make a great game. I still can play Halo 6 for months with all the gametypea and custom games/forge. Plus I have yet to even play Halo Wars 2 so I’m in no rush

I guess I have patience. I’m not hungry for news because I already have my favorite Halo (Halo 2) and its remastered. Most hyped I ever was for a Halo game, the day they showed off Halo 2 Anniversary with MCC. Don’t get me wrong, I still want Halo 6 but I’m not rushing them for it.
