Why the Hate on the Multiplayer Ending Sequence

I don’t know if I’m missing something or if this has been touched on before…but why do alot of people hate the little ending sequence of the winning team at the end of every match. I enjoyed it and thought it fit well into the lore of the multiplayer. Considering these are spartan teams competing against each other the winning team does a little “we won” celebration at the end. Its not like it takes up a bunch of time (5 seconds max?) or is offensive to the losing team. Maybe I like it cause I played competitive sports and am used to celebrating and shoving it in a teams face after a win or goal, but i don’t get why people are so against it?

Because it’s different, it’s childish, it’s not classic halo, it’s copying destiny, it’s…

These are some of the responses coming your way.

I thought it was pretty cool but it too much “bro” i guess you could say.

Five seconds after some 100 - 1000 games add up you know.

I dislike it because to me it feels so un-spartan. A serious game becomes a schoolyard football/soccer game.

It’s ok to celebrate, but I can do that personally.

I’d rather have the winning team announced as text, we see a short clip of the winning team shaking hands with the losing team, and focus is on the winners.

These Spartans aren’t II or III’s. These are regular soldiers that have become Spartans. Of course they’re gonna be cocky, look at Majestic. These were the best soldiers that were picked to become the next line of Spartans so they still have that humanity to them. It’s no different than sports in real life. I saw the same intro sequence in destiny but I didnt complain about it. It’s 5 seconds vs a ten minute match. Even after 100 or 1000 times it’s still not that much.

Because they are not as sober as Spartans should be

It wasn’t terrible but it came across as more frat boy’ish and immature then a group of victorious elitely trained super soldiers.

Mostly they are just tacky and a waste of time unless they are used to mask loading in some way.

You know if they said screw it and went crazy with it where I could unlock the crotch grabbing taunt at least it would come back around to being amusing after simply being a dull waste of resources.

I like it. I mean these guys have their humanity. They’re Spartan 4s. Not Spartan 2 or 3. Yes it’s a bit tacky n childish but just get past that.

Multiplayer has a lore now n this fits good. Just make it more serious rather than childish taunts. N mask the loading with it

Short answer? It looks stupid. Plain and simple.

Most common excuse I see is that it is unprofessional and only frat boys do those things. Because high-fives, fist bumping and extending ones arms into the air are solely things frat boys do. Nobody else in the history of the Earth has done that.

These are Spartans, the most advanced weapons in the human arsenal, engineered to fight overwhelmingly superior enemies. And yet, they behave like high schoolers after winning a match. Do you honestly think this is canonical? Would super soldiers act like children after winning a training match?

ahem
Super soldiers who came from normal backgrounds not indoctrinated and their basic humanity stripped from them. You remember the mannerisms of Buck’s squad in Halo 3: ODST? Why would that suddenly change just because they were augmented and given power armor? If they were Spartan-IIs or IIIs I’d be more inclined to follow your logic, but they are Spartan-IVs.

No no no Cobra, we can’t use logic here. It has no power here.

It wasn’t terrible, but they definitely could have turned down the dudebroisnness. Yes, that is a word. They could make an option for it (e.g. dudebro, stoic, happy, bored, etc.)

Do you honestly not understand that Spartan-IVs are not Spartan-IIs? I am pretty sure the most elite soldiers in the world today, having not been indoctrinated since they were 6 years old, high-five and fist-bump from time to time. They are in a training simulation and emerged victorious over their rivals… do you expect them to be all somber and serious and calmly stating, “nobly fought, Red Team.”

“Act like children,” lol so ridiculous.

The thing I only ever learn in threads like these is how unprofessional high-fiving and fist-bumping are. Better go tell the president, active duty military personnel, professional athletes and almost every human being on the planet that they are acting like children.

I think it has to do more with the fact that the player (you) aren’t a bro-fisting kind of guy, rather than the spartan IV’s. Some players would rather have their spartans be that silent badass type.

Which is a valid criticism and one I think can be addressed with animation options. Yet the “it’s childish” argument just seems like bunk to me because of how arbitrary it is.

I’m with you there. I personally don’t like the animation it forces you to do because it does feel really “yeah bro!” to me. But I do like the idea of some kind of victory/defeat animation and I’m not against the idea of having different animations to choose from that seem less schoolyard-y. Those exaggerated high fives and fist bumps feel wrong to me though, and I’d rather not be forced to use that.
