Exactly, It’s called a DEMO
Because running around in circles for 5 minutes just isn’t as entertaining as it sounds.
I actually liked the demo. Game looked great, combat and AI looked solid. I can’t wait to play this game on legendary

And the Halo 4 E3 2012 stage demo did a far better job of showing off the game’s new features than Halo 5 did.
Didn’t Halo 4 do the same thing? The demo level wasn’t the same as the actual game level.

How? It was a linear, scripted sliver of the story mode that only served to introduce a new armor ability and the Prometheans. There were no features shown off at the stage demo.
Something that makes me scratch my head is the squad based elements. I would honestly rather have Marine AI like in older games instead. Another thing is the scripted moment on the bridge. It just doesn’t seem right for a Halo game to take control away from the player like that.

Marine support is no support at all, and we lose control in cutscenes all the time.

The marines weren’t that bad in the original Halos and I meant taking away control during actual gameplay. There’s also an option to skip cutscenes.

Well, it did do the same thing. The problem for you is that it was reasonably close to what the level actually was (same geometry, just different context.) As a point of comparison look back to Halo 2’s campaign gameplay trailer. Almost nothing in it besides character models and probably some environmental textures made it to the actual game.

How? They were both Linear and 343i showed off a decent amount of material with Halo 5. Let’s not forget that the time for the presentations are limited. Microsoft did have a lot on their hands, more so than 2012 I would say.
ofc its going to be changed up for the show, they have a limited amount of time to show what they want to get across, they cant just show an entire level , just like they cant play oh harder settings and die randomly lol.
Idk why people are surprised about this, of course it was going to be linear
It doesn’t help that 90% of the demo the player was using a shotgun. Not exactly the most exciting weapon in the world.

Speak for yourself man. That’s my favorite gun right there.

The purpose of a stage demo is to show whats new with that game. the E3 2012 demo did that well.
It showed the new enemies the Prometheans and their abilities. The crawlers can walk up walls, the knights can teleport and spawn watchers and the watchers can shield other enemies and catch and throw back grenades. It showed new abilities like the Promethean vision allowing you to see enemies in low visability, it showed new weapons like the light rifle and the suppressor.
What did the E3 2015 demo show us? 1 new enemy type which we didn’t see anything of because the guy playing killed them instantly with the shotgun, 1 new vechile which was also destroyed almost instantly and 1 new weapon which is a covenant version of the hydra. We did get to see some new things like squad commands and reviving but thats really it. Not to mention the demo was highly scripted which is normal for a stage demo but not good for a game where its big thing is supposed to be “different ways to tackle encounters so no battle is ever the same twice”
I’m not saying the game will be bad but the stage demo was.

I fail to see the hydra-plasma caster relation, sure they’re both grenade launchers of sorts. But the caster is like the pro pipe from reach
