Why The Dramatic Change In Forerunner Design?

I’m curious as to why the Forerunner Prometheans, that will be appearing in the upcoming game, bear no resemblance to previous descriptions and renderings. Also, their armor seems to indicate more of a sarcophagus than a living being. Are these simply combat capable durances of Promeatheans long dead?

Promethean Knights have never been described before. Whether their constructs with AI or constructs with Promethean “souls,” they are not Promethean caste Forerunners as we have read them.

That much is for sure… I suppose the original Didact would not have command over the Forerunner Armies and would be forced to use constructs.

Some one referred to Primordium which would suggest that the knights are human durances. A most disturbing concept.

I’m still hoping that the enemies we see in the game (that we’ve seen in the videos so far) are not actual Forerunner, butsome sort of AI security constructs. I think Cortana basically says as much. The Prometheans we see in the game behave like monsters.

Current evidence shows that these are Forerunner Warrior-Servants, Prometheans logically, who wished to serve the Didact after death. The composer composed their durances, and they were put in control of mechanical combat suits that can be more efficient against the Flood.

But, as all beings can, they likely have gone somewhat rampant. Spark went rampant, Penitant Tangent is likely rampant. These Prometheans, Knights at least, may be rampant or somewhat corrupted.
Or maybe this is just what became of the Prometheans. We never got a description of them fighting, perhaps they were savage.

Thanks that’s a decent explanation.

And btw, when I say that the act like monsters, I don’t just mean that they are savage fighters. I mean they behave like animals. There is little point to opening up your protective face mask and screaming. And why would you have a glowing skull?

Or maybe there is! That’s how their suits vent excess heat! lol

Why would the Forerunners shove stupid floaty bits on everything when properly connecting them would probably be more practical?

The answer is, the Forerunner were in no way a practical species. They liked making stuff big and fancy. Stupidly fancy. Even the Didact is oversized.

What the hell is the purpose of being fifteen feet or so tall when you have super technology such as armor and weaponry? The answer is that the Forerunner were those -Yoinks!- who just needed the biggest and bestest whatever even if it was completely impractical.

How is that impractical? Fixed joints can be broken, and are limited in their function. Having a free-floating stasis-held joint not only allows for the Knights to be more nimble, but their “joints” aren’t put through any strain when they, say, leap from incredible heights or engage in melee combat. It also allows for easier interchanging for limb-mounted weapons, I would imagine.
