Why the Champions Bundle is a smart move.

First, let me start by saying how much I’m looking forward to the Champions Bundle and how excited I am to see halo’s DLC style changing. Here’s why:

It’s a widely known fact that Halo 4’s DLC playlist (be it Crimson, Castle or Majestic) has the lowest average population of all of the playlists. What this means is that people look at the DLC playlist, see how few people are playing, and are then unlikely to purchase the DLC because they feel it would be a waste of money. And they’re right. But the problem is that, in order to convince more people to buy the DLC, you need a way to make that DLC seem more appealing.

While the Champions Bundle does provide the player with new maps, the content isn’t purely map-based, and most of the bundle’s content can be used and enjoyed by the player without them having to worry about playing in a special, low-population playlist. They can just pop on their shiny new armour, strike a heroic new stance, and jump into BTB with style.

This type of DLC bundle will be more appealing to players and thus more people are likely to purchase it. This means that the Ricochet playlist will not have such a low population, which will make even more people want the DLC.

I’d like to say that this is a very smart move on 343i’s part, and I have my fingers crossed that DLC bundles in future Halo titles maintain this new set-up.

Agreed.

When I first saw the trailer I threw my money at my computer screen.

“Shut up and take my money!”

Im for sure buying the champions bundle

would be great if they didn’t pick August 20 as the release date, two of my other favorite games is being released on that date XD. Splinter Cell blacklist and Saints Row 4 on August 20 there goes the next 500 hours of my life LOL. Otherwise it would’ve been a no brainier DLC purchase on day one if it was released earlier.

While you stated some good points, and I am going to buy it because I am a sucker, I still feel disappointed.

Cosmetics don’t mean anything to me.

Nobody sees that new weapon skin but you, armor is hard to distinguish the way it is, and I don’t have any urge to play a new gametype that is basically Grifball with a twist.

IMO, stances are a bunch of bologna.
Instead of having stances on our cards showing off our shiny new $5 armor, they should put our stats on the cards.
W/L, K/D, Commendations, those type of things.

It comes down to maps for me. I bought the War Games Pass, and it still feels like it was a waste, but having the option (which never shows up) to play new maps is appealing.

At least in theory.

(I know I can buy the maps by themselves, but, like I said, I’m a sucker)

And it has the pit.

The problem is that not everyone would want their stats displayed on their in-game card. I know I wouldn’t, because I don’t care what my K/D is. However, other people certainly might want to show off their impressive combat results, which is why I feel there should be more options for customising your in-game card. You could choose to display stats, as well as aesthetic things, as you please.

I could care less about a map that will never get played. However, I’m looking forward to the new armor!

Same here. Wish my boss didnt hear me yelling “yeah” at my work place when I saw the trailer.

Good sir, I think you need to look at all the comments about the pit. Their endless!

It was a smart move, but it also shows that 343 was listening, due to them bringing back two of the most asked armor sets.

You make a good point about cosmetic DLC.

The DLC playlist population was really high up until maybe a month or so after the third (Castle) map pack released. The Bullseye map pack may be similar–especially considering how many people are gonna be trying to get those Achievements.

Third time’s the charm.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT KDR on anything.

If anything were to be implimented on the player cards, it should be stuff like

Win to Loss ratio
Accuracy
“How likely is this person to capture an objective”

ETC

Accuracy shouldn’t be implemented on player cards, because Halo 4’s weapons are extremely inaccurate…

looks good, I doubt it would be 'Majestic" good, but I can see this pack being better than just another BIG TEAM SLAYER pack…

Although they coulda made 1 MORE map for the pack…

Agreed, now if only we could get them to release the preorder DLCs in a pack like this.

I would rather use the Gears 3 system.

Gears 3 preorders gave you certain bonuses, just like Halo 4. But later on, as DLC started to show up, each DLC gave you a certain or various of those bonuses. Excluding the Limited edition bonuses of course.

It was more like an early access to them.

That sounds pretty good but I don’t see them doing that here. I’d settle for a DLC pack that had all of the preorder skins, Locus and Deadeye helmets and the various emblems.
