K so this might sound dumb but i like the idea however. Feel it be really neat if it had a scope attachment that worked on a cooldown. Something totally new for the franchise. Made a prototype in CE once but never followed through.
It was back pre h4 launch when i was concerned of having both with similar roles. The br and dmr that is.
Well, Halo 5 is the only Halo game to be released since Halo 4 (a decade ago) which had way more content than Halo Infinite when it comes to weapons (so far). In the case of the Bandit, it is just the next iteration of the DMR. It isn’t a new weapon, its just a new concept on an existing weapon.
I’m fine with this, but I still feel that the concept of the Bandit would have been better served as an M6 Magnum.
Edit:
If 343 is really going for a precision weapon that has no scope, then why on earth would we have the Bandit over the M6 Magnum?
Can you elaborate? Every iteration of the M6 Magnum has been different from the others, so how can you claim that this hypothetical M6 Magnum will shred when the concept is totally up for discussion?
We have no idea what its function is going to be.
From the speculation so far, backed by video evidence, it’s a 5 shot kill weapon, with a 15 round magazine, and a slow semi-auto rate of fire. So it appears to be exactly like the DMR only no scope (like the Sidekick) and heavy recoil (like the Commando).
I just wish the first new gun added to the game was something more substantial like the Grenade Launcher, Rail Gun or Plasma Caster, instead of a semi-auto Commando.
Using a long-barrel rifle platform in a CQC environment is stupid to begin with, scoped or irons. A rifle round is meant to travel long distances accurately, hence the longer barrel length. Over penetration is a huge issue with CQC environments too. Usually smaller caliber rounds are ideal because they’re fired from short-barrel platforms. Like, oh… I dunno, an SMG!!! Hint hint 343
But I’m an idiot for trying to apply real world information to a science fiction military game I guess.
Sooo…
Lol long rifle muzzle tap 5 shot kill recoil bad AR is OP nerf the magnum plasma is useless blah blah blah
To me this Bandit rifle is an obvious attempt to fill the role of the H5 standard magnum, but now with the aesthetics of a rifle. A 5-shot kill semi-auto precision weapon that’s effective in close to medium range. It’ll be a much appreciated improvement as a starting loadout option over the Sidekick; particularly, within BTB.
As much as I like the DMR this statement is VERY true. I recall playing Halo 4 back in the day and getting peppered by DMRs the second you leave cover was the norm. I’d still like it to return, because I believe some maps can be designed to account for it and customs as well. But for overall multiplayer balance it does pose a significant problem.
I found it to be the most annoying in Halo 5 Warzone… most of the map became a freaking DMZ because the DMR had such range you could easily people across the map. Now I don’t think range is particularly relevant competitively speaking because those maps are gonna be somewhat small-medium sized, but when they put the Bandit into BTB your gonna thank them the guy that picks it up isn’t getting Overkills regularly lol.
Spartans do have built in zoom in the eyes…we don’t need scope if they can link with the suit.
I got flamed on Reddit for this, but the literal purpose of a rifle is to be effective at mid to long range. The reason rifles and spiral grooved barrels were invented was to improve accuracy at a distance.
There’s literally videos of it on youtube right now. Do not tell me what to be upset by.
Like I said in my original post, Spartan abilities be -Yoink!-. Remove the abilities of a spartan and we’re stuck with the same issue with it not making any sense.
Lol calm down there bud. You know the gun is not being released for another 6 months, right? But hey, if you want to be a crazy person and get upset over something that’s not even close to final development yet be my guest. ![]()
No disagreeing with you, but I do want to remind the class that H4 removed descope universally, so Ranged Rifle spam was at an all-time high there.
Don’t try to use logic and reasoning on the internet.
To quote the great Mark Twain:
“Never argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
When you say it like it actually sounds very interesting!
As some address I hope it will fill the niche between the AR and the BR that makes it possible to be a be a more allround starting BTB weapon without disturbing the gameplay too much.
If it functions similar to the H5 magnum I will be one happy gamer for it’s potential.
For all we know the 2nd variant of the M392 could add the scope, essentially making it more reliable for range. Every other weapon has some alternate variant that performs different as well as sporting a different coat of paint.
If the Bandit is supposed to fill the role of the M6 Magnum, then why not just use the M6 Magnum?
