im getting a smell of troll from this post… where is that bridge?
Peculiar, people raged at the possibility of the Shotgun being a loadout weapon even if it was nerfed but are pleased to hear Automatic weapons kill devastatingly fast in CQC whilst being ineffective any other range.

I don’t understand the confusion…
The utility weapons, namely the BR, was made to be effective in all situations. It’s good, but not great, and will easily be beaten by a weapon better suited in that particular scenario. That is, assuming that both players are of equal skill.
The AR is made for close quarters combat. Obviously it’s going to be beaten by the BR in any other situation.
That’s how it is, that’s how it should be, and hopefully that’s how it will stay.
This isn’t opinion, this is fact. Anyone who actually understands Halo understands this simple concept. If you disagree, I would recommend working on your own traits as a player rather than trying to change the game to be more “noob-friendly”.

A perfect four-shot BR or 5-shot DMR can beat a perfect AR spray in close quarters. But if you’re getting four-shotted, your AR/SR isn’t going to be on point anyways. Only chance you have is getting close enough for the melee. And even then it’d be a draw.

That is true for it seems every other Halo, just not Halo 4. The automatic weapons in Halo 4 dominate at their range, which is close range. Mid and long they are pretty useless. But at close range, the AR in a skilled players hands can take down someone with a precision weapon.

The shotgun can kill in one shot, while the automatic weapons require you to expend more than half a clip.

I didn’t make my point very well. What I tried to say was every automatic weapon I see in the Primary weapon Sandbox effectively operate like nerfed Shotguns in that they are only effective in the close range niche but in that very limited niche they dominate.
I personally don’t think weapons like this promote good gameplay as spawning weapons because one they are very limited and two they take little skill to use once in their close range niche.

Now… you do realize In halo: Combat evolved the AR was the main weapon, aside the Magnum.
And also useless thread is useless. Short mid to close range the automatic well shred an precision rifle. Obviously as well vice-versa in mid to long range situation.
I think you have the word “sucked” with the word “limited.” Automatics are made for short range CQC types of battles so what they can do is very limited but they do wonderful in the role they were built for.
Precision weapons are “good” because they fit more then one role. They have versitility, something automatics don’t have. From my experience at RTX and PAX automatics still have the same role as always But they feel stronger and better then before.
Also nice shot at the casuals. That isn’t old at all.

You must be terrible with the AR. At CQC the spread isn’t wide enough to miss it has a faster kill time than the BR and DMR which is a fact. The problem is, at mid and long some bullets will miss because of spread and the bullets won’t make it that far.

The SAW does and that’s it. If you have good aim you can beat anyone up close that’s using an Assault Rifle.
