Why taking away the ZB Playlist is a bad idea

Alright, so for those who read the weekly bulletin, the next playlist update is going to remove the ZB playlist, and instead have ZB Slayer as a potential Option 3 in Super Slayer.

Now, I’m not going to try to start a ZB vs 75% bloom vs Vanilla bloom argument, but the fact is that some players like play ZB on occasion. I’m one of them.

Now, I understand that MLG is full ZB, but some players would like to play on other maps outside of what MLG has approved. For instance, I may want to play ZB Slayer on Powerhouse. Also, some players would like ZB without the crazy competitive aspect that MLG brings.

Now, players who are in the mood for ZB will have to search the Power Slayer playlist, and hope that ZB slayer maybe comes up in the 3rd option, and then maybe it wont be selected?

On top of that, the variation between the two gametypes is rough to switch between, so someone continuously searching the Power Slayer playlist will have to change around every other game between Bloom and No Bloom.

Instead, I would recommend adding the Power Slayer settings to Team Slayer, and give ZB back it’s own playlist, including object & slayer based variants.

I don’t care one way or the other about ZB vs default. I just don’t understand what good could possibly come from taking away an existing playlist in the first place.

Normally developers strive to offer players more choices, not less choices.

Everyone once in a while I would play ZB slayer for fun, I’m sad that they are taking it away, dmr + grenade launcher + rockets if out of amo was fun on uncaged…

I understand that by reducing playlists it forces players to search the same playlists, thus bringing more people to the playlist, thus improving search times, but I just believe that the ZB playlist has too large a following on it’s own to reduce it’s existence to MAYBE a 3rd option in voting.

Play it in customs. It was by far way to niche to be its own playlist.

Agreed, at this point taking away options seems like a bad idea, although ZB is niche at best, it had become established as a preference for some.

The only thing I can think of is that 343 has plans for that slot and in the coming months we will all have a better understanding of why they felt it was a good decision to remove ZB.

I don’t think it was that bad, I mean, whenever I went there, the population was rather low…

I like the change. I never saw more than 200 people in the playlist at one time, and I think the playlist will be better integrated as a gametype in a playlist with more population. People that don’t know what the gametype is may vote for it out of curiousity, and boy would that be a fun match! Also, I think Reach has a max number of playlists it can offer, so by removing one they may be preparing to add another.

I’m also psyched for the firefight playlist changes! You have no idea how happy I am for them.

yes for the love of god get rid of ZB

I have only ever played one or two games of ZB, but this post reminds me of when they removed a very, very popular playlist like Squad Slayer.

I happen to have read some peoples’ comments elsewhere, and ZB didn’t exactly have the most stellar population record, but in the same grain of reasoning Squad Slayer was insanely popular. I just don’t understand the logic behind the removal “qualifications”…

All I ask for is STABILITY! I know you super-hard-core players can keep up with things, but depending on the playlist, I can go into the same map with the same number of players, and have completely different sets of load-outs, Armor Abilities, differing Bloom, and what weapons are at the weapon spawn… and it changes once a month.

I just want ONE competitive playlist with ZB. (MLG is too filled with teams) And a third option in Super Slayer? Lol, fun while it lasted I guess.

Just play MLG or Super Slayer and stop complaining about it, please, i don’t want more “AW 343 TOOKED AWAY MY FAV. THING, YOU -BLAM-”, it’s childish.

Super Slayer has armor lock(That means its now noncompetitive). MLG is for competitive team objective games. We have the right to give our personal opinion of any update we like. Thats why they made these forums, to get feedback.

I lost all respect toward 343 when the March update took place.
They took away what brought Reach’s average population back to 100k, and now they’re going to reduce the population even further.

lol, by about less than 1,000 per day. Reaches population didn’t change after the march update.

I wish they would reduce the population further and make everything under Competitive DLC required though.

If there are 200 people in ZB and 60,000 on Reach (conservative numbers I believe), then ZB players account for less than one half of one percent of the population (~0.3%).

Basically, not many people played it so they rolled it into Super Slayer. MLG has ZB if you can get over the differences, and it will show up in Super Slayer (probably without Armor Lock). If you can’t deal with AL in TU, then I don’t what to tell you…

ZB should not be retired. There are times in which I want to play ZB, and I seriously doubt I’ll be able to play ZB much in Super Slayer, since I doubt many people will vote for it. They’d rather have their AR starts.

So, since it is being retired due to its lack of population, then by this logic, they should remove Squad DLC, since it barely hits 100 at at a time. Or at least TU it, more people, including myself, would play it.

I just believe that ZB should be in it’s own playlist for the sake of continuity.

For players who search the Power Slayer playlist, they will have to switch between Vanilla, 85% Bloom, and Zero Bloom every other game… It would be very difficult to change your firing pattern that often back and forth.

Even if you do not like ZB, how does it feel knowing that while searching Power Slayer, every other game you will have to get used to ZB, and then switch back again? It’s just too much screwing with your head.
