Why take stuff out?

Things that should’ve stayed, and been implemented into the game:
-UNSC air vehicles. Maybe have even MORE than we’ve ever had. Who asked for a phaeton? Lol.
-Elephant. Believe it or not, it made for REALLY fun custom games: Like this. Just one funny example.
-Brute weapons and vehicles
-Spike grenades and fire grenades
-Old game modes like juggernaut, infection, king of the hill, oddball, grifball, firefight, etc. Ya know the deal there.
-Great open maps like sandtrap. Obviously don’t just remake sandtrap if you don’t want to remake it, but something of an equivalent in openness.

Of course this doesn’t touch on the many features we don’t anymore have that have been already made well aware of. But I think these things are important, as well.

It was taken out so it can be “free” dlc down the road.

Yeah, and the thing is, that’s possible given 343 are doing these updates. They really could add such things.

Elephant was only in Halo 3 so I do not know how 343 was the one to take it out.

Before launch they stated that they had not plans to add in air vehicles at launch. Josh homes was the person that stated this.
fire grenades were only in halo 3 and the same with spiked ones.

I have a feeling that most of the old games types will start showing up either in the new social playlist or in months after launch.
We are going to have forge and most of the maps look very open to forge on. It should not be to hard for people to create those.
The majority of the brute weapons were only shown in halo 3 and reach and it was because of the time period in the story. However, the gravity hammer is something that people have been saying is coming back sometime in the future.

this is just month two of 8 months of content that is suppose to drop for us.

Well it’s not like they reached into the nearly-completed Halo 5 and decided to yank all those things out. Each time round a developer is going to attempt a few different things. Some of those were fun though.

I am really starting to agree with this. With the new updates, I throw up when I hear about the Cartographers gift and pushing Forge, it should have been there from the beginning… But it is this great free content update…

What I find the most humorous with this so many around here before 5 came out bashed people who brought up Bungie as pulling parts of the game out and charging for it… This looks pretty familiar… Yes they are not charging for it, but didn’t we already pay for it to be there from the get go??? Hold it back and say it is free later… Its an illusion…

In order.

  1. I would love to see the hornet and falcon come back, and hope they will come in a future update. Plenty of people wanted forerunner vehicles.
  2. Thats a cool game type, and I am not sure why they did’t bring it back. Bungie didn’t use it again, and in my experience it had very limited use in online multiplayer. It was only useful in custom games built around it. There wasn’t enough incentive to bring it back is my guess.
  3. I don’t know if you are familiar with the lore, but the Brutes are severely weakened after the Great Schism, and are busy fighting themselves. There are no brutes-Hence no brute weapons or vehicles.
  4. These are brute weapons. See #3
  5. Some of these are coming when we get social playlists, check out the Cartographer’s gift stream today to see if they have anything like that.
  6. These maps would look awful now. Because of the locked in 60fps, it severely limits how much detail they can have at any distance. It creates a popping effect, even at close range in the smaller maps.

Since when did you think forge was going to be there at launch?
The problem with you stating bungie is that the content was already on the disc and looked like it was planned to be on it while halo 5 did not have forge planned on the disc. And so far the content they have dropped has been awesome while during the hight of Destiny… it was a disappointment

We should have those things from the start honesty.

I never said 343 was the one to take it out. Just that it should never have been taken out. Same with your statement about grenades. They all made for really fun custom games.

All very valid points.

  1. I know it was ignorant to say nobody wanted forerunner vehicles. I was just being sassy. Lol but I think there should’ve been a bigger emphasis on UNSC vehicles.
  2. It was a community gametype, so it wasn’t made by Bungie or anybody; just a made up gametype in custom games. But Elephants were still useful for fun.
  3. I understand that brutes aren’t really around anymore, but it’s a video game; it’d be awesome to have them available in custom games. They don’t have to be in the campaign.
  4. ^^^^
  5. Yup, I bet they’re coming eventually, but they should’ve been available from the beginning. We don’t know exactly when we’re getting the gametypes, and it could take a while since it seems they were never planning on implementing them in the first place. Only after the outcry of the lack of gametypes. Of course, that’s just speculation.
  6. Doesn’t matter what they “look” like. But I will say this: Battlefront is also locked in 60 fps, and features giant, beautiful maps with chaotic battles. In fact, it’s probably the most realistic looking game on the market right now. So I doubt they’re limited in anything, considering Halo most likely has a much bigger budget than Battlefront did, and twice the development time.

  1. I figured that, so no problem, and I totally agree we need more air vehicles, I would love a Sabre or Seraph.
  2. Elephants were better for custom games, which as can be seen by the lack of split screen and the options present in custom games now, custom games is not on the priority list for 343.
  3. It would be weird to have things in custom games but nowhere else, unless they weren’t lore friendly like the golf club. Hopefully the brute weapons (looking at you brute shot) come back, although I did hear that they are considering the gravity hammer.
    5.We agree.
  4. Halo 5’s engine is pushed to it’s limits on these small maps, I don’t know anything about the battlefront engine, but I assume it is better. I think this engine they are using now isn’t new, whereas the battlefront engine most likely is, seeing as there wasn’t even in a last gen battlefront game. The popping in a lot of the small maps is really jarring, and is super noticeable on Pegasus. I would take 30fps for better graphics, and this would have allowed them to focus energies elsewhere.

Give me Infection with the new Forge and I’ll be a happy puppy.

Why 343 :frowning:

UNSC air vehicles should be brought into Halo 5… They had the Hornet in Halo 2 Anniversary forge… Why not Halo 5. Hmm…

After the MCC I really believed 343 was going to go to insane lengths to win lost fans back. I thought the campaign would be super long and exciting, I expected a ton of maps and modes (firefight, spartan ops). We really didn’t get that. I still love the game but it isn’t would it could have been and it really hurts the brand to an extent in my eyes.

Also, the story they were selling pre launch sounded amazing but that isn’t really the story we got.

The question you should be asking is why is forge even delayed considering half the maps we currently have are all made it forge.
