So alright here’s the thing, I know that a lot of people say stuff like “this should be like (insert older game in the series) because it would be better.” I also know that many of these things can’t be fixed or made like the older games because it would be harder or require a lot of work. For example, I know there are problems with making Halo 5 splitscreen and it wasn’t just a “we decided to make this game harder to play with your friends” situation. And I know making an armor system like Reach’s, while it would make everyone happy, would require a lot of design work and time that I’m sure is being spent doing something else that is needed, so it’d be hard to bring back the old armor system.
But there’s one thing that I think would be fairly easy to implement and would make people happier and want to level up more. In previous Halo games, when I ranked up, I got a cool new title. I remember starting as a recruit in Reach and working my way up, even if I only got to Warrant Officer, I still felt like I’d done something worthwhile. And even Halo 4 did this well, there were actual military ranks associated with each level you got. I was disappointed in Halo 5 when I found out that leveling up would only take me from, for example, 40 to 41. The titles for the ranks made the game more immersive and more interesting. I think bringing back actual military ranks and displaying them, along with an insignia, next to a player’s name while they’re in the multiplayer lobby would make people want to level up more, and it’d be a lot easier than replicating Reach’s armor system. Also loot boxes suck no offense to whoever had that idea.
Going to close this off as it’s not really a support thread. If you’re interested seeing some of your ideas come back for future Halo games, feel free to sue any of the existing wish list threads in the General Discussion forums
