Why on G_ds green earth would 343 take a season break right after they release this game? Am I the only one who thinks this makes no sense whatsoever. With an epic release like this I’d have people working year round to shape this game and give the fans what they want. I feel like they don’t even really care - and it shows.
Hoilday season. Im sure last year they were very very busy up untill the game came out. they do need a break.
> Hoilday season. Im sure last year they were very very busy up untill the game came out. they do need a break.
but they only came out with half a game?
and didnt the population drop 85%+ during their break?
> Hoilday season. Im sure last year they were very very busy up untill the game came out. they do need a break.
I worked on christmas and newyears so that’s no exccuse. They took a whole season off leaving us with a shell of a halo game.

So did i. Near the end of the development of a game, developers are extreamly busy. Bungie was the same. They would hold a staff get together before the final push. Most if not all work longer days than you and did this for months. They also work a ton after the game comes out. So taking a break during Xmas made sence. If it had been May, they still would have taken a break.

A 2 1/2 month break??? When these forums are filled with complaints? Well atleast they are back now I guess.

I dont think it was that long but they earned it.

I don’t really think they earned it, more or less their entitled to take there break just like anyother individual, also it seemed longer then usual, but considering this is development and individuals taking times off can hamper development of a game I can reasonably understand the length. I wouldn’t say they earned it though when we got a game thats incomplete since launch.

Half the complaints aren’t community agree’d more personal opinions and some of them aren’t even realistic complaints.
They earned a Holiday Break IMO, and no Game that releases is perfect.

Cant claim they didnt earn it cause your not happy with the game. They work alot more hours then the every day joe. Near the end of development is when itd really bad. They dont work a set amount of hours more they work till they drop. Iv heard about developers sleeping at work for 3 hours only to wake up and keep working. Its not they finshed and waited till Nov, they worked up till the drop and kept working. Im kinda glad that their break hit Xmas holidays. Best time for that to happen.

Happiness or fun with the game is subjective, 343i did release an incomplete game because they either didn’t have enough time or their or Microsoft’s marketing department wanted the game to be released near the end of the year to compete with other titles.
Oh and I know everyday joe’s who work more hours then them and they don’t work in game development, they work in factories everyday in diverse working conditions. I have heard of developers and game testers getting unfair treatment at development studios. The enviornment at 343i from the way we’ve seen it at videos and bulletins doesn’t make it seem like they are working that hard or under that kind of stressful conditions, but thats just my opinion. Its rare to hear of stressful work enviornments in the industry. Not to say they aren’t working hard, I’m just saying I don’t think they worked that hard till they dropped. I know what its like to work that hard till you drop. A factory job and game developement are two different entities, but I find it hard to believe that game developers work harder then your average joe.
Yeah, since their break I’m sure everyone has noticed the halo fans are taking a break as well from playing this game because it’s so — messed up. So I guess a lot of customers will be taking a season vacation too.

I like to see people’s opinions. As far as a half game. Unplug your internet and you have 1/4th of a game. You can’t even play spart ops offline. Blahh

Its not a question of the job at hand, more on how it drains the human body. Sit at a desk staring at monitors allday is more taxing than most people know. I also dont think what you saw is enough to state that they didnt work hard. You make it seem as they worked a standard 9-5 hour day. Iv done factory work and its not as bad as its made to be. Its a slap in the face to say that they dont know what hard work is. Id like to see the average person make a blockbuster hit in a time frame they cant control
