Why Spartan Abilities are good for Halo

A brief example of why Spartan Abilities are making Halo a little more interesting. This also alludes somewhat to the MP level design… Sometimes when you think you’re down and out, you might have more options than you even realize…

Thanks mengg… Just trying to spread some positivity.

cues Mario jump sound Heh. Poor dude got grounded.

I actually miss the abilities from Reach and H4. Hologram is too fun…

That’s fair… but while they may have been fun in their own ways, they were highly imbalanced. Halo is better off without them.

It’s part implementation, part brand-identity…

I like the different aspects of combat SPARTAN abilities add.
It also makes sense for MJOLNIR armor to be capable of these things.

forget the Spartan ability argument for just a second. I just want to say that was a beauty of a play.

Spartan Ability does not make game any further interesting, since most major FPS games have abilities like this. It is generic mechanic in video game. Past Halo games had things that are absent in Halo 5 and those are far more interesting.

I appreciate that man… but I think it’s a testament to 343’s game design with H5. They’ve made a great game… there are so many little ways you can use the maps and gameplay mechanics to your advantage.

A lot of people rag on 343, myself included… but they deserve a lot of credit for the kind of game they’ve created in H5. The gameplay, overall, is brilliant… and the feeling I had after executing this play was similar to that of pulling off a BXR, no-shields in H2.

It just feels good to play Halo… for the first time in many years, with H5. You just have to embrace it!

Finally soemone who is not ripping on the spartan abilities. Or are you?

Not ripping…

I like the Spartan Abilities too XD

Also, that was a hell of a play there OP.

That was one of the best parts of Classic Halo, you always could find a way to maneuver out of trouble and still win the fight.

I think 343i should re-add armor abilities but they can only be used in Forge and Custom games.

Not really sure what is so good about GP…

It isn’t as if AA’s are the only thing allowing you to comeback.

I love Spartan abilities and even the old armor abilities. Shame they went after reach and halo 4. I was getting excited for halo 5 but was let down, Spartan abilities are still awesome though.

Yeah I know right

They also can be annoying when they charge into you when in halo 3 you could turn around and fight them by that time.

Not to poop on your parde, OP, but such plays were possible in the past Halos as well. Obviously not with ground pound or clamber, but there were always ways to out maneuver your opponent and come out with the win.

impressive. this is how they should be used, I havent managed a feat like this yet so this is amazing.

now on the topic of armor abilities, half of the stuff should have been in the game before, and it wouldnt need a thruster pack to do any of it.
