Why so Much Hate on Molten?

From a design point of view, the map flows well, has excellent variation in verticality and line of sight. I’d go as far as to say it’s one of Halo 5’s best developer-made maps. The only main concern I see are the weapons on map, but other than that, why so much hate?

The amount of spawn points, and how often it is for someone to spawn behind you.
Usually when you’re readying for a sniper kill.

I do always seem to have enemies behind me… As far as map design goes I think it is pretty good, if spawning were revised I think i’d really like it.

I love it. It’s one of my favorite maps. I have no clue why people hate it. It looks good and plays good too.

I have nothing but bad luck on that map. Until it evens out…yea I don’t like it

I think the map is fundamentally decent but the spawns are pretty bad so if they can be sorted then it has potential to be a great map.

I like it; I’m a guy who runs around the map really fast so this map works out well for me :stuck_out_tongue:

The game play of the map is starting to grow on me. I am just not a fan of the art/setting. Seems too much like a DOOM map.

80% of the map is essential completely unused and the parts that are used are tiny, cramped corridors with limited 90 degree entry points.

Its good but I think It has the same problem as Riptide, I mean, It has an specific zone to stay and camp. In the case of Riptide we got the Blue Base and in Molten, we got Sniper zone and bunker/BR Base. Maybe a Plasma Caster in Carbine would fit, as it would be useful to take them out from Sniper

People don’t seem to like it for FFA for some reason, from what I gathered.

I do pretty well on it. Just use the brute plasma rifle/BR combo and hang around the staircases at the back of map. Alternate between the top and bottom floors and you will catch people off guard.

There’s hate on Molten ?

I love molten. Quality map and exactly what a remix should be.

My only problem with it is that it pops up too much in slayer, and it gets boring after a while.

Because it’s bad. 4v4 spawn system is awful and even on a 2v2 scale it can have issues, which in turn ruins the flow of play. It also has many dead zones with very little traffic, in short, only the high grounds get traffic due to the sniper and higher elevation play.

I love Molten. Easy access to all areas directly from lava falls makes me love it more. In FFA I don’t do as well on this map as some of the others.

Molten is a terrible map for competitive play, it has short sight lines, the map is basically comprised of corners and hallways which encourage automatic spam and camping, the spawning is terrible for 4v4 AND 2v2, and too many deadzones.

I guess at a lower level people might like it, but it really is a poorly designed map.

I don’t get it either, I enjoy it.

You can’t see a damn thing in Oven…straight up blind.

The reason why Molten is hated is because most people are running around sprinting for their lives at God speed getting destroyed around corners . . .

This map is designed to play like four corners and should be played by angles. Mostly play it slow and you can walk up on anyone unexpectedly around a corner.

I can’t tell you enough how many times I solo queue slayer and encounter random teammates thinking they are the -Yoinking!- Flash . . . .

Even teams of four who could be smashing my teammates, traveling at God speed running past me because I chose to walk or crouch walk to avoid radar . . .

Unexpectedly and inevitably getting flanked, assassinated and punished for flying around a corner not knowing I was there waiting . . .

The map is small so timing spawns is easy. Just post up, find where the enemy is then walk toward them . . . (Don’t Run) Easy kills for days on this map . . .

NOTE: Use the bottom level alot to become unpredictable and untraceable . . .
