It seems like 343 can’t think of anything beyond clearing out a group of enemies to hit a switch and repeat. I’m playing the new Spartan Ops episode right now and it’s still the same thing over and over. It was like this in the campaign too.
I wish they would let us do something cool like take down some Scarabs or fly in space like Long Night of Solace.
Why this is even a point of contention, I’ll never know.
I thought the last part of the final level was pretty cool.
The campaign was the same way.
Clear an area.
Press a switch.
Clear the same area.
Press a switch.
Clear the same area.
Progress through a hallway.
Repeat.
Because making creative mission objectives is hard…it’s really hard.
I wish Scarab fights were back in general. Spops would have been the perfect way to add a lot of these things the community would’ve wanted to do again.
Since the game takes so long to load, pressing switches likely loads the next segment of a level.
Because 343i listend too much to the very vocal minority and created a campaign that didn’t have anything new. The vocal minority would have cried about something “new” and how it’s not Halo unless it’s the same game from 10 years ago.
Lol i think they know that because in Ep6on one of the chapters the one where the grunts are sleeping. Theres an elite handling a terminal i then assasinated him and hit the switch. Then palmer says something like you activated an air strike get in cover, then she says maybe you shouldnt press every switch you see i LOLed.
To be fair, Halo 4’s Campaign did have a few more sections where you actually did something unique to that level than the other games.
But SparOps is so far disappointing to me. Don’t get me wrong, it has improved, but I feel that 343 could do so much more with it.

Just tried that out haha. Thanks for the info.
Isn’t this all Halo has ever been?
BRING BACK COLORED ( COLOURED for the people over the pond) KEY CARDS!!!
> Isn’t this all Halo has ever been?
Shhh, people like to think 343 ruined Halo.
I got a fever and it can only be cured by…
More colored key cards. 8P
> Isn’t this all Halo has ever been?
‘The mystery of the tri-gates’ was a Halo 2 ‘mystery’ that revolved around random buttons being in place they looked like they shouldn’t be, which when pressed in certain sequences would activate a ‘tri-gate’, a three-pronged door which was never opened.
So yeah, you’re right. In fact, the community back in those days volunteered to hunt for these switches, and spent months and months doing it, happily.
Not really making any sort of point here, just interesting to note that the current community seems annoyed that 343 implemented button switches as a large portion of the story progression mechanic.
Am I really the only one that remembers colored key cards?
Pushing buttons and opening doors is part of the job of running seemingly meaningless mini-quests. Been doing it since before CE and it will never change as long as we’re playing an FPS game, especially in the role of a soldier.
Either we’re running from point A to point B to push a button and/or have a firefight, or we’re fighting from point A to point B to push a button and/or have a firefight, or we’re sneaking from point A to point B to push a button and/or have a firefight… Of course we could be driving a vehicle from point A to point B to push a button and/or have a firefight too.
If anything there should be more of them. I mean your person only ever seems to run, shoot, throw grenades and die. At least pushing buttons spices things up a bit.
More switches now.

If we wanna spice things up we should add more rocks, Think of all the poor unemployed rocks in the world, If we added rocks they could provide for their pebbles and stones. Support the EOFRA and Rocks everywhere.
Can we have a capture the injured person quest?
Where you actually pick them up like Capture the Flag and get them out of hell.
And if they die, they respawn, 'cause -Yoink- escort quests on Spartan Ops with dat lag.
