What the hell are smurf accounts?
Please elaborate what a smurf account is, OP. It isn’t helpful to leave a one sentence post and expect everyone to understand what you are talking about.

It’s a 2nd account usually at a lower level. Old schools know it simply as a second account. New kids call it a smurf account
It is when high skilled player feel they are stuck at the top (cant reach the next level) and create a new account (starting level 1) and just smash people like crazy.
For isntance someone Diamond 5, would create a new account and he would play against bronze or silver or gold with his level 1 account…

Yep this. And this works very well in halo 5 as it takes 10 matches to place you in a rank. So you can play 9 matches in each playlist and destroy noobs.
This is why I prefer the 1-50 system, among other reasons.
If you have a very low or very high MMR it becomes very hard to find matches, sometimes taking a whole half hour or longer. That’s why you see so many 2nd accounts (not to mention they are free to make).
Its because Xbox One allows any account on your Xbox to share your gold privileges, so its very easy to just whip up a free silver account and hop online with it for “free” or at least with no extra charge.
i feel like i have been playing boosters every game i go into. I wish 343 made it so that party got matched against people of the skill of the highest rank in their fireteam.
I look at accounts that are gold or silver and silver and see they have 200 or so gamerscore.
Please 343 make it so fireteams with these low level secondary tags get matched against players that are equal to the skill level of their highest rank in the fireteam.

Smurfing (I like it) and it’s close relation, deranking, were rampant in the 1-50 era as well. Please don’t let us ever go back there (for all the reasons that it sucked).
And with the current ranking system… if you destroy “noobs” in the first ranking game you will quickly be matched against better opponents in the second… so you would pretty much only have a couple of picnics before you were rapidly back to square one.
I guess they then have to make another Smurf…

Which is so easy to do since they are all free…

Or you know, when people get banned from quitting. They’ll play on there other account(s).
People at high ranks or with high matchmaking ratings find it hard to find games, you can’t blame them as it’s the only way to find games after that, and due to the fact that they are free it is quite accessible to make second accounts.

My apologies. Was a term I learned years back from playing LoL. Thought it was a more common term these days. But ya as stated above, it’s just little frustrating trying to place and just getting wrecked by low level accounts who clearly didn’t just start playing xD.

yeah, and then get called stupid when we ask what the -Yoink- a smurf account is and laugh at how ridiculous of a name it is…
